It is a time of freedom and fear, of Gaia and of borders, of many paths and the widening of a universal toll road, emptying country and swelling cities, of the public bought into privacy and the privacy of the public sold into invisible data banks and knowing algorithms. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

These are the times when maps fade and direction is lost. Forwards is backwards now, so we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we are all passing, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times, but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread.

Behind us we have left the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

Mother Davis breathes easier as she finds out that at least one public figure is willing to stand up and demand the truth about the aftermath of September 11, 2001.

Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senator from New York State, isn't the first politician of national stature to do the right thing and demand that George W. Bush explain why he ordered the Environmental Protection Agency to lie to New Yorkers about the safety of the air in Manhattan in the days after the attacks of September 11, 2001. Thousands of residents and rescue workers listened to Bush's lies and believed that the air was safe. But George W. Bush had documents in his hands that led scientists to believe that it was not safe for those people to return to lower Manhattan, near the site of the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Since that time, hundreds of New Yorkers have become seriously ill from breathing in the air that George W. Bush said was safe.

No, Hillary Clinton isn't the first to demand answers, but she's the first to put teeth into her demands. She has announced that she'll use her position as United States Senator to block the nomination of a new head to the EPA until Bush thoroughly explains why and how he ordered the officials at the EPA to lie about the deadly air around the World Trade Center site.

We urge the other 99 senators to join Senator Clinton's demand for answers, and support her blockade of Bush's nomination until those answers are given. Whether we live in Manhattan or Montana, none of us are safe when we have a President who is willing to lie to the American People about the risks they face whenever it suits his political ambitions. Therefore, we also urge Americans of all stripes and all localities to stand up for their right to know the truth, and support Senator Clinton's effort to get George W. Bush to talk.

Thinking that a petition would help Senator Clinton gain traction for her action,
Mother Davis
