It is a time of freedom and fear, of Gaia and of borders, of many paths and the widening of a universal toll road, emptying country and swelling cities, of the public bought into privacy and the privacy of the public sold into invisible data banks and knowing algorithms. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

These are the times when maps fade and direction is lost. Forwards is backwards now, so we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we are all passing, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times, but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread.

Behind us we have left the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

Americans Have Been BamBushelled!
Friday, April 30, 2004

Until today, I thought most Americans had finally clued in on two things:

1) There is NO evidence that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, or major programs to develop them, at the time of the U.S. invasion in March 2003.
2) There is NO evidence of a link between Hussein's regime and al Qaeda, let alone proof that Saddam was supporting bin Laden.

According to a study by the Program on International Policy Attitudes, I was wrong. According to the study:

"a majority of Americans (57%) continue to believe that before the war Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda, including 20% who believe that Iraq was directly involved in the September 11 attacks. Forty-five percent believe that evidence that Iraq was supporting al Qaeda has been found. Sixty percent believe that just before the war Iraq either had weapons of mass destruction (38%) or a major program for developing them (22%)." (Source: www.pipa.org)

Not surprisingly, most people who think there is evidence Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, or was assisting al Qaeda, plan on voting for Bush in 2004.

Jumpin' Jeezus on a Pogo Stick! What's the matter with you, America? There's not a scrap of evidence for either of these bogus claims the Whitehouse fed us to justify Iraq War II! Over the past year, the glaring lack of evidence for these claims has come out again and again, as flawed and faked sources have been debunked one by one.

Yet most of America remains hoodwinked, bamBushelled. Smell the frickin' coffee, America. Wake up before it's too late!
