It is a time of freedom and fear, of Gaia and of borders, of many paths and the widening of a universal toll road, emptying country and swelling cities, of the public bought into privacy and the privacy of the public sold into invisible data banks and knowing algorithms. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

These are the times when maps fade and direction is lost. Forwards is backwards now, so we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we are all passing, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times, but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread.

Behind us we have left the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

Re-Elect Bush: Because They Are Evil and We Are Good
Friday, April 30, 2004

Unlike my fellows here, I have decided to support George W. Bush's re-election bid. Why? Because he was right when he said that the armed struggle in Iraq is a struggle between the Forces of Good and the Forces of Evil. We are the gooddoers, and they are the evildoers.

When you hear a liberal wringing her hands about whether going to war against Iraq was a good idea, remember this:

We would never put a hood over a prisoner's head, attach wires to the prisoner's body, stand them on a box and tell them that if they fell off, they'd be electrocuted. We are good. They are evil.

We would never strip prisoners naked except for hoods on their heads, force them to stack up in a human pyramid, and pose next to the pyramid, smiling, for pictures. We are good. They are evil.

We would never let dogs attack prisoners. We are good. They are evil.

We would never attach electrode's to a prisoner's genitals. We are good. They are evil.

We would never rape teen-age prisoners. We are good. They are evil.

We would never order prisoners to masturbate in public. We are good. They are evil.

We would never order prisoners to strike each other. We are good. They are evil.

We would never order prisoners to strip naked and simulate oral sex on one another. We are good. They are evil.

We would never scrawl obscenities on naked prisoners' bodies. We are good. They are evil.

They are evil. We are good. The world is that simple. God Bless America. United We Stand. Re-Elect George W. Bush.
