Seen Today

Seen 9 AM this morning near the downtown Durham Public Library, off Roxboro Street:

A dog with no human companionship sits at the corner of an intersection nearly devoid of cars and fully devoid of pedestrians. When the light turns green for east-west cars, the dog crosses the street, walking eastward in the crosswalk with traffic. Making it across the street, the dog sits back down and waits. When the light changes to green for north-south cars, the dog gets back up and crosses the street, walking southward in the crosswalk with traffic. The dog makes it safely to the sidewalk and continues southward on its way.

i had a dog when i lived in southern california, a california dog, when i moved back to minnesota i took the dog with me.
he was a great dog, but, he had a houdini quality, where he could escape any chain or fenced area seemingly at his will. well, calfornia can get hot, minnesota can get cold, and this dog was not bothered by either, but, the minnesota summers can get real muggy. after his last escape i was told by a credible source that the dog was seen traveling soutwest saying, “it ain’t the heat, it’s the humidity!”
