American Apparel to be Sold. We’ll Keep Track.

I can’t find a single mention of this news on their website, but American Apparel has been bought out by an investment group (link | link | link | link | link).

I want to let you know that we will keep track of this news as it develops, particularly as it pertains to the pay and treatment of workers. We sell American Apparel shirts because they aren’t sweatshop-made shirts. If the brand goes sweatshop, we’ll have to go elsewhere. We are cautiously optimistic that the sale won’t lead to this outcome — but we’ll keep our eyes open.

Your link to the cafepress store is barely working. If you can get on their website and stay on for any length of time before the connection is reset, you will see a notice on their home page that they were offline for a long period of time due to a DOS attack. Wonder what that’s about.

  • There’s no telling who’s doing it. Our experience with denial of service attacks is that they’re very difficult to counter. This is day two of the problem.
