PrideDEPOT — No Sweat In Those Shirts!
Big, hefty kudos with chocolate chips and marshmallow fluff this morning go to PrideDEPOT, which has not only rid its shop of all questionably-sourced shirts after finding out about it, but has used the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of such choices. PrideDEPOT has prominently placed the following announcement:
You may have noticed that we recently eliminated many of our pervious apparel offerings in The Pride Shop.
Recently it came to our attention that many of our provider’s apparel items are being produced in foreign sweatshops where working conditions are often substandard, wages obscenely low, hours extremely long, and labor forces that often consist of children. We find these practices completely unacceptable and will no longer offer these items and support such exploitation.
We are currently working hard to find other sources so we can ensure customers that manufacturers of products we offer, adhere to a minimum standard of fair and humane labor practices.
We ask that you please bear with us as we go though this transition. In the meantime, all our sweatshop-FREE products, however limited are still available. Non-apparel items remain un effected.
We thank you all for your patience and continued support.

How can we best support Jody May-Chang and PrideDEPOT for their ethical choices? One small way is to feature the new line of shirts, all now made ethically by American Apparel, that PrideDEPOT offers. So here they are. If you appreciate one of the designs, know that purchasing a shirt from PrideDEPOT not only supports gay, lesbian and transgender pride but also rewards ethical retail choices.
