Kucinich is the Literal Protest Candidate
Some would say that to call Dennis Kucinich a protest candidate is a patronizing dismissal of his legitimate campaign to become the Democratic nominee to become President. There is another, more positive, interpretation of the term, however.
Dennis Kucinich is the candidate for president who shows up to antiwar protests the most consistently. While John Edwards, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are busy making appearances to conventions of labor organizations and other power brokers within the Democratic Party, Dennis Kucinich appears about as much at grassroots antiwar, antiBush protests.
Of all the presidential candidates, Dennis Kucinich is the only one planning to attend this year’s Kennebunkport Rally and March for Peace.
Cindy Sheehan will be there. So will the Indigo Girls, playing their swell music, along with some other bands.
You can be there too. The nonviolent demonstration takes place this Saturday, August 25th, starting at 10:30 AM. If you’re attending from out of the area, there is camping space still available at Camp Alex, named as Camp Casey was for a soldier killed in Iraq.
Or, maybe you could make a weekend of it, and camp up at Camden Hills State Park. As of this afternoon, there are still spaces available there for the nights of the 24th and 25th.
