Hillary Clinton Supporters or John McCain Supporters?

They have been calling themselves supporters of Hillary Clinton. Are they really? Have they ever been?

After hearing the result of the vote of the Democratic Party Rules and Bylaws Committee, which gave a very generous compromise between the requests of the Clinton campaign and the committee’s own original decision, people who had identified themselves as supporters of Hillary Clinton began chanting,

“McCain! McCain! McCain! McCain! McCain!”

Is Hillary Clinton the kind of candidate who attracts people that would rather support the terrible right-wing policies of John McCain than the progressive policies of Barack Obama, or are these supposed hard-core Hillary Clinton activists really just plants from the Republican Party?

IF I CAN’T HAVE HILLARY GO JOHNNY GO

  • Uh huh. Nice try, GOP plant. I’m not buying it. No Democrat with a brain would support John McCain.

  • rally eyewitness

One sign from the rally: “No self-respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a party that ignores her sex. -Susan B. Anthony.”

Another huge sign: “I didn’t leave the Democratic party, the Democratic party left me”.

I have heard a LOT of buzz about voting for McCAIN, also mentioned are green party, write-in or not voting, which would all have the effect of electing McCain without voting for him directly. He is seen as someone with integrity, even if his policy positions leave something to be desired.

At the rally you could identify about three official groups with bullhorns–one from Florida. None of the “official” chants said anything about McCain, most were pro-democracy (“what do we want?” “democracy!” “when do we want it?” “now!”)or a simple “count all the votes”. The rest were anti-Pelosi or anti-Dean. (“hey hey, ho ho, Howard Dean has got to go”, “Nancy Pelosi, shame on you”) Late in the day there was a “take it to Denver” chant, someone outside must have gotten word from inside.

The question should not be who is demonstrating sufficient party loyalty, the question should be what and more importantly *who* Democratic party is demonstrating loyalty for.

  • How about this question: What other rules of the election can we change mid-stream in order to benefit Hillary Clinton?

Using power within the Democratic Party elite to change the rules to placate Hillary Clinton sounds sooooo democratic to me.

What Obama supporters fail to realize, is that their chosen messiah is actively despised by many, on a personal level that has little to do with the policies he mouths and lots to do with the way he and his followers have behaved throughout this campaign. It is this deep-down gut-level contempt he inspires (rather than blind loyalty to Clinton and anger that she won’t win the nom) which makes non-Obamanite dems look toward McCain.

Of course, when Obama followers do sense this anyone-uot-BHO trend, they label it pure racism or pro-Clinton fanaticism. They are welcome to their opinion.

I could now list the forty or so reasons why I have come to despise Obama during his campaign. But why bother? Dems who dislike him already know the reasons why. Dems who love him will not change their minds. Dems still on the fence should decide for themselves. And Repubs, I think, will laugh all the way to the White House.

The sad thing is that when the general election is over, BHO supporters will continue the bitter game of finger-pointing, name-calling, and accusations against any Democrat who dared to dislike their man. Neither change, nor hope, nor unity, will result.

  • Jocely, what many Hillary Clinton supporters fail to understand is that Barack Obama is nobody’s messiah, and that this isn’t a personality contest.

I suggest that Hillary Clinton supporters stop voting with their gut-level contempt, and start using their brains instead.

It’s this kind of gut-level instinctual approach to evaluating politics that convinced people that George W. Bush would make a better President than Al Gore.

Remember Al Gore was just “too stiff”?

    Think, please.

  • Jim

    Jocely, I will be blunt.

If you are going to vote for John McCain, who as president will be:

    * against a woman’s right to determine what to do with her own body
    * against constitutional liberty
    * for an authoritarian-stacked Supreme Court
    * for a Big Brother surveillance state
    * for the legalization of torture
    * against consequences for pay discrimination
    * for 100 years in Iraq
    * bankrupting the budget on our next war
    * promoting the interests of corporations over the needs of citizens
    * vetoing the efforts of a Democratic Congress

… all because Barack Obama somehow annoys you personally, then you are vapid and shallow and part of the reason that this country is going down the craphole.

we will keep saying this until we reach all of America: RUSH LIMBAUGH started all this mess. On March 4th he and Glen Beck kept telling the Republicans to vote for HILLARY. Here’s the Rush Limbaugh quote “I KNOW IT’S HARD TO VOTE FOR HILLARY. YOU MAY VOMIT. BILL AND HILLARY’S FUNERAL MUSIC WILL PLAY. BUT NOT JUST YET. I’M HAVING FUN WITH THIS. THIS IS A LOT OF FUN MAKING CHAOS FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.” 800,000 Republicans voted for Hillary with no intention to vote for her in November. Bill Clinton went to Rush Limbaugh in March. WHY???? RUSH LIMBAUGH HATES THE CLINTONS. WE DON’T NEED ANYMORE CHEATING TO GET INTO THE WHITE HOUSE. IT’S ALREADY HAPPENED TWICE WITH GEORGE MCCAIN BUSH. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR COUNTRY. WE’RE ABOUT TO PAY $7 A GALLON FOR GAS. COME ON AMERICA. ALSO MCCAIN KEEPS TALKING ABOUT REV. WRIGHT. WHAT ABOUT MCCAIN HE DIDN’T EVEN GOOGLE HAGEE OR PARSLEY. HE PURSUED THEM BECAUSE OF THEIR SO-CALLED EVANGELICAL SUPPORT. IT’S THE SAME THING HE DID WITH THE IRAQ WAR. HE DIDN’T DO ANY RESEARCH. HE COULD HAVE GOOGLED TO GET INFO THAT THERE WERE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT A GOOF!! AND HE DOESN’T EVEN TALK ABOUT HIS CHRISTIANITY. IT’S SECRETIVE. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN.

    Jocely,
I for one have only one “messiah” who plays no part in politics and I don’t associate with any political party or any particular religion. Granted some Obama supporters have put labels on Hillary and her supporters have returned the favor, but I have yet to see one Obama supporter refer to her as a “messiah” of her voting block. Use name calling if you really feel the need, but leave faith and religion out of it!! Seperation of church and state? Does Hillary need to remind you of that principle? And just in case your thinking it, I don’t blame her for the Rev. Wright garbage either…apparently the media needs a lesson in Democratic principles as well. Thanks for listening to my thoughts.

  • sally

NO BAMA, No Way. Hillary was HIJACKED
by her own party (no longer my party).
The Democratic Party HATES women–it is
clear. GET RID of DEAN, Kennedy and the
other MALE IDIOTS in that party.
They don’t RECOGNIZE the BEST candidate that has ever run in decades! Hillary
should take it to the Credentials Cmte.
Let’s hope the “idiot” implodes before
    Denver!! VET him NOW!!!!!!

  • sally

OHIO WILL NOT VOTE FOR bho
WV WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM
PA WILL NOT VOTE FOR …
IN WILL NOT VOTE FOR …
FL WILL NOT VOTE FOR …
MI WILL NOT VOTE FOR …
NY WILL NOT VOTE FOR …
NM WILL NOT VOTE FOR …
AND ON AND ON 18 MILLION ARE NOT WRONG!!!

HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON THE PEOPLES PRES.

  • Sally, has it ever occurred to you that when you come to places like this and shout and yell as you have, you aren’t likely to convince anyone to have sympathy with your cause?

Also, I’m wondering if the Hillary Clinton campaign has run out of lower case letters.

One more thing – which part of voting to help George W. Bush rush into the Iraq War makes Hillary Clinton the “best candidate that has ever in decades”?

  • Jim

Uh huh. It’s ALL a conspiracy… by the voters, who gave Barack Obama the most pledged delegates by far! MY goodness!!! They are involved too! EVERYONE is involved!! The biggest conspiracy of all!

The Credentials Committee? You haven’t checked the delegates lately, have you? EVEN IF Clinton had gotten everything she had wanted regarding Florida and Michigan, Barack Obama would STILL have enough delegates to clinch the nomination.

You are deluded. No, that’s not woman-hating to say. It’s not sexist. It’s truthist.

Why delete my comment about Obama not winning the popular vote?

  • Jim

Because your pseudonym is Iroquois Honky, your real name is Louise, and you were told never to post here again after you started tossing around personal slander. Do not try posting here again.

  • Anonymous

no, you got that wrong, dude, but if the question is to much of a probem, then I’m sorry I asked it.

  • AT

Hey Anonymous, whether or not Obama won the popular vote isn’t on point at all. I guess you were sleeping when Bush took the White House without winning the popular vote? The rules haven’t changed since then, even if they should have been. Admit that you are just a sore loser.

  • AT

BTW – are Iroquois Honky and Iroquois one and the same? It’s too bad that Jim banned Iroquois from the site. I wanted to continue thrashing her until she left by her own choice. That would have been sweet.

  • Jim

Yes. She would never have left by her own choice. She was seeking attention, and would do whatever destructive things she needed to do to get it.

  • AT

I know it wouldn’t have been easy, but I swear I could hear her whimper through much of her later posts. I felt like she was beginning to lose heart. Poor poor little Iroquois. We are probably getting her panties all in a bunch just talking about her now.

  • HLC

Black people didn’t vote for Bill Clinton because of his color, but black people will vote for Obama because he is black. This is racist. Fellow Hillary supporters, please don’t vote for Obama. Obama and his supporters totally disrespected (and still disrespect) Senator Clinton and us Clinton supporters. The DNC, only cares about half of the democrats in their party, so why let them con you into putting the DNC above the country.

  • Jim

Uh huh. You’re the same hcossman who in a past post referred to Democrats as “extreme left.” Well, you go ahead and vote however you clearly already wanted to. Nobody’s stopping you. Nobody stopped the Democratic electorate either, more of whom went for Barack Obama. More of the electorate, more of the pledged delegates, more of the superdelegates. And now nobody’s stopping you from doing exactly what you want to do. Just don’t hold your breath expecting the rest of us to follow you in your transparent shuffle.
