Deborah Pryce and I aren't Talking to the Same Pro-Choice Ohioans

Republican Rep. Deborah Pryce of Ohio made the following claim regarding Sarah Palin and Ohio voters during a press interview yesterday during the Republican National Convention.

I think the women are so excited. Even the pro-choice women in Ohio are excited! There is a huge bump for our ticket with Sarah on it because she is a real leader.

I don’t know what pro-choice Ohio women Deborah Pryce is talking to, but I at a party last night I bumped up against quite a few. The most popular phrase regarding Sarah Palin was “does John McCain think we are stupid?” I heard that more than once. I also overheard a woman telling someone else that “if McCain thinks we’ll just vote for someone with the same parts, he’s got another thing coming.”

Are you a pro-choice woman from Ohio? Tell me what you think of Sarah Palin.

I am a 32 year old female democrat who is pro-choice all the way. I think Sarah Palin stands for everything I would teach my children not to be (I have 2 daughters). She can’t take care of her own household, how is she going to take care of an entire country? How can you preach against birth control and expect young girls not to get abortions when they get pregnant? Not all girls come from a home where parents are understanding or have the funds to support an addition to the family. It’s like going back to the 1950’s. It didn’t work then, it definately would not work now (she should know that from her own experience with her daughter!).

I cant believe you actually leave your Moms basement Jim! Congrats. Citing the N.O.W. party as your Ohio stats is as weak as your cafepress polls. Vivian abstinence has been proven to work everytime as birth control, teach your kids that. As far as going back to the 1950’s watch the media talk about how she should stay at home and mind the children for a blast from the past.

Abstinence-only education does NOT get more teenagers to abstain from sex, and it gets MORE teenagers infected with sexually transmitted diseases. That’s science.

Well, golly gee whizzikers, “Anonymous,” it wasn’t a NOW party. It wasn’t a politically-themed party at all. Thanks for playing the stupid-ass assumption game.

I thought the point of my comment was to give my opinion of Sarah Palin as a Pro-Choice female from Ohio. Which I did. I don’t agree with the 1950’s idea of being ashamed to teach our children about sex, and I don’t agree with the media saying she should stay at home with her kids because she’s a woman. But maybe they are trying to say she needs to stay at home with her kids (along with her husband) due to the current situation her family is in. She has a son going to Iraq, not by choice, but because he got in trouble and opted Iraq over jail. And she has a pregnant 17 year old. Maybe she needs to spend some time with her other children so history doesn’t repeat itself.
