Call it the communications center to nowhere. Local officials called it redundant and ineffective. Sarah Palin pushed for congressional earmarks to support it anyway, in order to bring lots of money to Wasilla, all the better for her cronies to spend.
It was just one of many congressional earmarks supported by Sarah Palin that John McCain once criticized. McCain said that Palin’s earmarks were wasteful and corrupt.
Sarah Palin loved the money she got through earmarks by Congress, though. “The federal budget, in its various manifestations, is incredibly important to us, and congressional earmarks are one aspect of this relationship,” she said.
Congressional earmarks are incredibly important, huh? That’s not the story the Republican Party is telling about Sarah Palin now. Now that McCain has chosen Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate, they are pretending that Sarah Palin has been an enemy of pork barrel wasteful spending and congressional earmarks.
Sarah Palin was for congressional earmarks before she was against them, you see.
