Transcript of Thomas Muthee’s Sermon Endorsing Sarah Palin as plan to “Invade” and “Infiltrate” Government

Thomas Muthee is the man who engineered a movement to arrest, death-threat and hound out of town a woman he called a witch because there were car accidents near her house.

Thomas Muthee is the pastor who declared in a sermon that “The violent take it by force. People that have spiritual backbones are the ones that are going to advance. They are the ones that will move forward. I thank God for what I see happening in this place. I thank God for the vision, the passion that I can see here. And my word is this: the more violent you become, the more committed you become, the quicker you will see things happen in this region.”

And now, as you can read for yourself in the following text transcript (source: video), Thomas Muthee is the pastor who took to the stage of the Wasilla Assemblies of God on October 11, 2005 to deliver a sermon explaining why Sarah Palin should be elected Governor:

Thomas Muthee
October 11, 2005

In a moment, I’ll be asking you that we pray for Sarah, and I’ll tell you the reason why. When we talk about transformation of a community, we are talking about God invading seven areas in our society. Let me repeat that one more time. When we talk about transformation of a society, a community, it’s where we see God’s Kingdom infiltrate, influence seven areas in our society.

Number one is the spiritual aspect of our society. Mainly, the church for a long has just concentrated on that dimension, whereby we simply want people saved, we want them to go to heaven, we want them delivered, and that’s it. But I’ll tell you something: if all we do is come to the church and get people saved and then they go, I don’t think much will happen in our society.

So the second area whereby God wants to penetrate in our society is in the economic area. The Bible says the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous. It is high time that we have top Christian businessmen, businesswomen, bankers, you know, who are men and women of integrity, running the economics of our nations. That’s what we are waiting for. That’s part and parcel of transformation. If you look at the Israelites, you know, that’s how they won. And that’s how they are, even today. When we will see that, you know, the talk transport us in the lands. We see, you know, the bankers. We see the people holding the paths. They are believers. We will not have the kind of corruption that we are hearing in our societies.

So we go to the third area, it’s in the area of politics. Tell your neighbor, “politics.” Do you know what I discovered? This is funny. The people who actually split churches, they have the gift of politics, but they are exercising it in the wrong place. That’s what I came to know. There are people who are wired to politics because God wants to take the political, you know, dimension of our societies. And those people should be prayed for. That’s why I was, you know, I was so glad to see Sarah here. We should pray for her, we should back her up. And, you know, come the day of voting, we should be there, not just praying, we should be there. And I’m saying this because that’s what I’m telling our church. I’m telling them that we need this in Parliament. In here is what you call Congressmen, you know, you know, the, the Governors, we need the bretheren right inside there. Is anybody hearing me?

You know, because who will change the laws of the lands? The problem is do we just pray, but we do nothing about it. If the believers had not done something in this country, your president would not be in office today. Yes or no? Am I right?

Number three, or number four, it’s the area of education. We need believers who are educationists. If we had them, today we would not be talking about the Ten Commandments being kicked out of the church, I mean out of our schools. They would still be there. One of the things that you, you know, I would love you to know, I’m a child of revival of the Seventies, and that revival swept through the schools. They are open to preaching, you know, open. Open. Wide open. You go to any school, there is what we call Christian Union. Christian Union is nothing more but a bunch of kids that are born again, spirit-filled, tongue-talking, devil-casting. Is anybody hearing me? All over the country! Is anybody hearing me?

We need God taking over our education system! Otherwise, we, if we have God in our schools, we will not have kids being taught, you know, how to worship Buddha, how to worship Mohammed, we will not have in the curriculum witchcraft and sorcery. Is anybody hearing me?

The other area is in the area of media. We need believers in the media. We need God taking over the media in our lands. Otherwise we will not have all the junk coming out of, you know, coming out of the media. And not only that, we need God t___ [period of silence in video]. Why can’t we have our living church in Hollywood? Guess what will happen. If we have a living church right in Hollywood, we would not have all the kind of pornography that we are having. Is anybody hearing me?

And the last area is in the area of government. Hello? We need believers there. We need men and women of integrity. You know, as the Secretaries of State. We need them right there. People that are born again, spirit filled, people who know God, and people who are serious with God.

So in a moment if you do not mind, I’ll ask, you know, even before I go to do this thing, you know, I’ll ask Sarah, would you mind to come please? Would you mind? Come, please. Let’s all stand up, and let’s hold hands all over this house. Come, Pastor, come.

[Sarah Palin comes to the stage in front of the congregation. Sarah Palin bows her head stretches her forearms forward and places the palms of her hands upward. Thomas Muthee lays hands on Sarah Palin’s head. Pastor Ed Kalnin and unidentifed man lay hands on Sarah Palin’s shoulders.]

Thank you, Jesus. Let’s all pray. Let’s pray for Sarah. Hallelujah! Come on, hold your hands up and raise them. Hold them and raise them up here! Come on, talk to God about this woman! Come on, talk to God about this woman we declare favor from today. We say favor, favor, favor! We say praise my God! We say grace to be rained upon her in the name of Jesus. My God, you make your judgement, you make room. You make ways in the desert, and I’m asking you today, we are asking you as the body of Christ in this valley, make a way for Sarah, even in the [inaudible]. Make her way my God. Bring finances her way, even in the campaign in the name of Jesus, and above all give her the personnel, give her men and women that will back her up in the name of Jesus. We want righteousness in this state. We want righteousness in this nation. Because you say [inaudible] in the name of Jesus. Our Father, use her to turn this nation the other way around. Use her to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers so that the curse that has been there long can be broken. In the name of Jesus. Father, we thank you today. We come in the hindrance of the enemy, standing in her way to there. In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus! Every form of witchcraft, it will be rebuked in the name of Jesus. Father, make her way now. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let’s all be seated.

[Sarah Palin returns to her seat.]

Sarah Palin was in attendance. After the electioneering sermon, Sarah Palin actively received Muthee’s blessing for her campaign. Sarah Palin is asking for a lot from American voters. Sarah Palin is asking American voters to place her in position to be the President of the United States of America should the elderly John McCain die or be incapacitated.

American voters have the right to ask: is Sarah Palin on board with Thomas Muthee’s plan using Palin to “invade,” to “infiltrate,” and to “influence” American government on behalf of evangelical Christianity?

I’m going a bit off topic here but I found an interesting blog post positing the possibility that Mama Jane was killed by police who then covered up her murder by claiming that she skipped town…

Did the Actions of Sarah Palin’s Exorcist, Thomas Muthee, Lead to the Murder of Mama Jane, the “Witch” of Kiambu? September 22, 2008

Former Fuller Seminary professor Peter Wagner, in his book, Praying with Power (published in June of 2008), provides a rather detailed—and frankly chilling—description of Sarah Palin’s exorcist and witch hunting political ally Thomas Muthee.

Mama Jane’s arrest and detention is simply described by Wagner as “questioning.”

But Kenya is not the United States, and the police may well have threatened, intimidated, or even tortured her.

Her quick exit from the town, and her complete disappearance from the narrative, suggests that she may well have been threatened with death.

She may even have been killed, inside or outside the city, perhaps by the police, who then said that she ”left” the community.

Why, one wonders, given the high degree of paranoia and superstition that Muthee had generated in the town, should we take for granted that Mama Jane got out of the community alive?

Wouldn’t the rumor of her being a witch have followed her?

Does it really make sense that she just went away and lived somewhere else in peace?

Wouldn’t her life, after her encounter with Thomas Muthee, have been forever precarious?

Wagner’s gleeful statement that Kiambu became a witch’s graveyard may, in literal fact, have been true.

I, for one, would like to know… where is Mama Jane?

  2. J. Clifford says:

Interesting point. I think it would be a fascinating journey to try to track down Mama Jane, and see what became of her, if she is still alive to give her version of events.

  3. Martin says:

The thing I find most disturbing about this sermon is the following:

“We need God taking over our education system! Otherwise, we, if we have God in our schools, we will not have kids being taught, you know, how to worship Buddha, how to worship Mohammed, we will not have in the curriculum witchcraft and sorcery. Is anybody hearing me?”

Why does Muthee automatically assume that teaching about God is better than teaching about Buddha or Mohammed or — shudder — dinosaurs?

I’m frequently outraged by narrow-minded morons who suggest that prayer has been outlawed in American schools. It hasn’t. No one can stop you from praying any time or anywhere you want to. Even Jesus (you’ve read about him, haven’t you Muthee?) suggested that prayer should be done secretly and alone. (Matthew 6:6 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”)

The only ban on prayer in school is that teachers will not lead organized prayer in the classroom. Why? It’s simple.

What if your child’s teacher does not share the same faith as your child? What if your child’s teacher is Muslim? Would you want him or her requiring all the students in his charge to bow toward Mecca every morning?

Would you feel comfortable in your child’s teacher leading the class in Birkhot HaShachar (a Jewish morning prayer)?

Now imagine the Jewish or Muslim child being led in Christian prayer. See how it works?

You have the right to raise your child as you see fit (within reason) and you can be assured that, within the confines of that classroom, no one will call into question those beliefs you hold dear. By not allowing an ORGANIZED prayer into the classroom, your religion is being protected, not denied.

Children should be instructed to pray freely and teachers need to be respectful of that. But no one should be forced to participate in any group prayer under any circumstances outside of the sanctuary. To do so would be to insult the concept of religious freedom that the Pilgrims sought when coming to America.

  4. J. Clifford says:

Martin, you’re right. That’s the law, yet, many right wing Christians are trying to infiltrate public schools, to teach their religion. In the Memphis City Schools, I once observed a teacher use her Bible for every day’s reading time book – for an entire week.

Besides, if God is really omnipotent, why can’t he ruddy well get himself back into a classroom? Why does he need Thomas Muthee’s help?

  5. Ardiana says:

I tell you I think its sad. This country was founded upon Freedom of Religion
Why will we have to believe what you people believe?
I believe in God It may not be your god but I believe in GOD.

  6. Sandy` says:

Wow, I think the above should take a deep breath and relax…this website seems fairly angry despite some of the humor. Let people be people and stop adding to the ridiculous…

  7. J. Clifford says:

Pardon, Sandy, but if Sarah Palin and John McCain would let people be people, I’d be really happy about that. Unfortunately, Palin and McCain support policies to cut back on my freedom. So, no, I’m not just going to sit back and let things be. I’m going to participate in this election and be an active citizen, thanks.

… and if John McCain and Sarah Palin don’t make you angry, you’re not paying attention.

  8. richard roe says:

It’s not about beliefs, it’s about power. The power to tell people what to think, who to love, how to breed… and when things are about power, they’re essentially about control.

Religion is all about submitting to the “leader of the flock”, ie; slavery and absolute authority.

    See how it works?

  9. Nathan Rein says:

I can’t find where Muthee uses the word “invade.” Does he say it somewhere else, or am I just missing something?

  10. Nathan Rein says:

Err, please disregard that last comment. I just overlooked it somehow.

  11. Elle says:

As if we didn’t have enough religious bigots of our own, they have to import one from Kenya?

The hard line religio-facists want to create a theocracy in this country, and the republican party is aiding and abetting them.

Palin was put on the ticket to placate the Huckabee supporters who threatened to pick up their marbles and go home. As someone said before, it is all about power, and the GOP wants to stay in power through any means necessary. Even if it means aligning themselves with people who pose a direct threat to the ideals that this country was founded on.

If you are pagan, queer, an independent freethinker, or anything but straight whitebread mainstream, and you vote for the republicans, you are voting against your own welfare and well-being.

As Bush said, “If you are not for us, you are against us.”

    That is their rallying cry.

  12. Dustin says:

Martin I’m happy you found a scripture but if your going to live by any part of the Bible you have to live by all of it, as it pertains to the new covenant. We do need to set aside time just to pray to God without interuption, but we are also instructed to pray continually
    1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

And that following Christ is the only way to heaven. Not buddism, hinduism (which by the way is a religion that prays to several thousand demons),

    John 14: 6,7

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Not Buddah, Allah, or anyother false God.

The percentage of buddist and muslims that attend public school in the U.S. is >1%

If 1 percent of the population gets mad because we talk about God thats ok. At least they’ll have heard the word of God and not have any excuses on the day of judgement.

FYI the bible also has somthing to say about things being added to or taken away from the bible.

    Revelation 22:18-19

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

    Sorry gays, lesbians
    Leviticus 18:22

22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Sorry everyone else who as “added” parts to the bible.
ie. Morons, Jahovahs witnesses, and yes even Muslims

This may seem like religious biggotry, and it probably is, but one day when I stand and face God I’ll be able to do it without having fallen victim (to the devil and his great deception of “ACCEPTANCE.

  13. Peregrin Wood says:

    Oh, poo, Dustin. Poo.

Christians “added” parts of the Bible too. Besides that – it’s just a book.

    Make your own adventure, okay?

If the devil has the power to deceive mankind, then surely you can’t rule out the possibility that parts of the Bible or perhaps the entire Bible may have been inspired by the devil with the intention of deceiving mankind.

  15. Elle says:

    leviticus 18:22 eh?

Sorry, but it says nothing at all about lesbians, so how are We included in it, unless of course you are making an interpretation of it?

So, that passage is so important, but what about the rest of leviticus?
Isn’t taking just that one passage and using it, while the rest of leviticus is ignored kind of the same as taking away from the scripture?

Oh sorry, a person need s to be able to think in order to figure that out, among fundies, thinking is not supported.

  16. cathy baylock says:

I guess you don’t remember Jesus casting out demons in the Gospels! I am amazed that people are afraid of evangelical Christians, but don’t even question Black Liberation Theology which is preached at Senator Obama’s former church.

I guess the Good News is: people are hearing God’s word even if the posting of the YouTube video was meant to harm Sarah Palin. As St. Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippinans describing those who preach the gospel to cause him harm: Ph1:18 “But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way , whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.”

  17. Elle says:

Oh yeah, that is a real comeback there don’t you know.

If Muthee is preaching god’s word, then your god is one sick psychopath let me tell you.

what about the part about rendering unto Ceasar what is his, and so on and so forth. Even Jesus preached separation of church and state, I mean he was a pretty smart fellow there, he knew what sick power hungry creeps would be drawn to that sort of thing. Too bad people didn’t listen until recently (historically speaking) in the western democracies, which had to go through a thousand years or so of theocratic BS and religious pogroms and wars to finally figure out that religious and secular power don’t mix. Too bad the muslims haven’t figured it out as well.

I hate to tell you but, there is no satan, and there are no demons. Satan is a personification of mankinds tendency toward evil, and demons are further personifications based on that archtype. They only “exist” in the sense that man creates and believes in them.

As far as Obama’s church, Black liberatinon theology has not started pogroms against me and my kind, so yeah, I guess I am less worried about them than I am about the religio-facists who want to tell me how to live, and then load me down with guilt and shame for being who and what I am.

No thank you, keep your ‘message of peace’, there is too much blood, hate and prejudice behind it for me to want to listen any more.

  18. DARK ENERGY says:

I was highly critical of Jeremiah Wright and TUCC. In fact, I even lost a few friends over my criticism of Wright and TUCC.

Barack Obama has clearly stated that he doesn’t agree with Wright’s controversial positions and has left TUCC. Wake me up when Sarah Palin denounces any of the detestable things Ed Kalnins has preached and when she announces that she won’t be going back to Wasilla AoG for special meetings and conferences.

  19. Dustin says:

I’m not going to argue with you guys until you agree with me, that just won’t happen.

Christians ,including me, have faith that the word of God is true and without corruption. God wouldn’t let his holy word be contaminated by the devil.

Sorry to confuse you with old testament “Jargon”
    about homosexuality.

    Romans 1:26-27 (New International Version)

26 Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion

anyone who reads this will no longer have an excuse on the day of jugement because you have been warned.

Paste this in your tool bar for the story about paying taxes to cesar and you will see its not about separating church and state.

Satan is truely the great deciever. When i was lost in sin he gave me all kinds of excues to continue in my sin. Man is born into sin , we have a sinful nature. If you think about it you don’t have to teach a little kid to lie or steal. It comes natrally.

Jesus having an heavenly father was not subject to this nature. Thats why he was able to be the perfect sacrafice. In the old testament everyone had to make sacrifices push their sins back another year. But when Jesus came He broke down that wall between us and God that is why we can just ask for forgivness and revceive it. We don’t have to work for it or earn it, or confess them to a guy in a booth. We can just ask him to forgive us and he is faithful and just to do so.

  20. Elle says:

LOL, Oh wow, you got me there! I mean how can you argue against a misogynistic prick like Paul. Mr. johnny come lately who did his best to turn christianity into judaism light, and suceeded.

Sorry, been there done that, got the whole load of guilt and shame to prove it too. Should I send the church a bill for the therapy it took to keep me from killing myself from all the emotional baggage you christians laid on me?

Keep your judgement day, I will pass thank you very much.

  21. DARK ENERGY says:

Dustin wrote: “Christians, including me, have faith that the word of God is true and without corruption. God wouldn’t let his holy word be contaminated by the devil.”

To claim to know what a god would or wouldn’t do is to claim to know the mind of that god. You can’t possibly know that your God wouldn’t have allowed the Bible to be corrupted and for that reason you should take it with a grain of salt. You can have faith that Bible has not been corrupted but to be doubtless in that faith is dangerous… blind faith always is.

  22. Dustin says:

    1 Peter 1:23-25

23For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and ENDURING WORD OF GOD. 24For,
    “All men are like grass,
    and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,

25BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD STANDS FOREVER.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

I am sorry you have all this guilt and shame inside. I don’t know you, or your life, but heres what I have learned from mine.

Before were saved God puts conviction in our heart so that we will turn towrd him. It’s just a nudge from the Holy Spirit to let God work in our life.

After we are saved, God says that our sins are forgiven and He will never bring them up again.
The devil will drudge up our past sins to make us feel guilty to try and tempt us to do wrong. God says He will not do that. But the devil knows our weaknesses and will use those against us.

We don’t have to live in shame.

  23. Jim says:

Oh, so it’s kind of like drugs, then. Thanks for clearing that up.

  24. Elle says:

Dustin, I do not have the guilt or shame any more, therapy, and the Goddess helped me there to see the folly of it, and the stupidity of the churches and people twho put it there. I accepted myself for being who and what I am.

As a southern baptist, I read the bible, prayed the lords prayer every night, and tried to follow a life that I thought jesus would approve of. When it came time that I needed spiritual help though, the christian god just wasn’t there.

Now seems kind of silly to put your trust and faith into someone who just isn’t there for you, now doesn’t it?

When I needed spiritual help and guidance, I did finally get it, but not from christ or the christian god. Where your god was silent and absent, the Goddess reached out and comforted me. I have seen my Goddess, I have communed and talked with Her, something that in over 40 years of being a christian never happened.

So keep your silent and absent god. Keep your god whose followers practice hate, fear and prejudice, who are quick to judge and condemn those who are different than them, and who seek only to control other peoples lives. Keep the fear, guilt and shame that your religion is built on, the insane threats from an insane god.

Just say no to psychopathic dieties.

  25. Dustin says:

    Exactly Jim!!!

It’s just like drugs, alcohol abuse, sexual sin, or even murder.

God just wants us to ask forgiveness of our sins, and then leave them behind and stop dwelling on the past.
Then when satan tries to bring our past up again we can just remind him of his future.

  26. Jim says:

God puts you in your unaccountable haze, and Satan is like that pesky drug counselor. When Satan brings up your behavior, you just tell ‘im to jump into a big ol’ lake of fire!

  27. J. Clifford says:

So, Satan is like a reporter, who keeps on dwelling on all the details about whether the law was broken and all that, whereas God is like a police officer who, upon catching a murderer roasting a live baby on a spit, says, “Tsk. Tsk! Do you ask for forgiveness? Okay. Well, let’s not dwell on the past. Go home now, and pray a lot, okay?”

  28. L Jackson says:

Please forgive those of us giving Jesus a bad name. He is much kinder than Ms Palin & her advocates. Also she needs to read her Bible for the Lord’s leading & direction. He would not tell a godly woman to put her career & need for fame before her baby with a disability & other minor children!

  29. Ralph says:

Well, thanks for the warning there, Dustin!

Let me see if I have this right:
A wise and compassionate supernatural being who endowed me with reason and empathy will condemn me to torment with python spirits and witches in this life and eternal torture in the next–unless I stand in opposition to love, family, marriage, equality and freedom.

That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. But hey, thanks for the warning.
