This morning, George W. Bush is scheduled to address the nation in order to reassure us all that everything is going to be all right.
George W. Bush.
What super genius thought they could put those two concepts together?
What do they think is going to happen? Do they think that George W. Bush is going to get on the air, and tell us not to worry, and then Americans will say to each other, “Oh, thank goodness! George W. Bush says it’s all okay now! I wouldn’t believe it if I heard the good news from someone else, but given the trust George W. Bush has earned with his record of sound judgment and keen perception of the state of the nation, I think I’ll go invest in General Motors right now…”?
What’s the point of this presidential address? After yesterday, and the market busts around the world overnight, we all know what’s going on. We don’t need Bush to repeat it, and tell us that he’s got super duper plan number 8, the one that will really, really work, if we just agree to give away yet more of our money.
I don’t want to hear it. Turn off the cameras, Dubya, and just go sit in a corner and quack to yourself, okay?
