Palinism of the Day: Parsing on the High Road

But no, in John McCain’s mission here, in taking the high road, as you’re going to see too with a lot of unfair shots he has taken in this campaign with some of his opponents’ supporters, McCain and I taking the high road, being positive.

    Jim.

    Perfect observations like this have prompted me to become poetic. With appologies to lewis Carrol of course.

    ‘You are old, Mr. McCain,’ the young man said,
    ‘And your hair has become very white;
    And yet you incessantly talk through your head -
    Do you think, at your age, it is right?’

    ‘In my youth,’ McCain replied to Obama
    ‘I feared it might injure the brain;
    But, now that I’m sure that I do not have one sah,
    Why, I do it again and again.’

    ‘You are old,’ said Obama, and possibly ailin,
    And have become just as dumb as a rat
    You took as your running mate a certain Ms. Palin-
    Pray, what is the reason of that?’

    ‘In my youth,’ said the senator as he looked to the sky,
    I was known for my maverick ways
    But now I am old and not very spry
    I must find me a VP that prays.

    ‘You are old,’ said the youth, ‘and your jaws are weak
    and you talk as if you’re a fool;
    you insist on reciting the same nonsense all week -
    Did you learn all that stuff in grade school?’

    Long ago’ said the Senator, ‘when I took to the Skies
    I hung out and got drunk with top fliers;
    And my muscular jaw, and piercing dark eyes,
    Have made me a master of liars.’

    ‘You are old,’ said the youth, ‘one would hardly suppose
    That your brain was as steady as ever;
    Yet you switched your position over and over -
    What made you so awfully clever?’

    ‘I have answered three questions, and that is enough,’
    Said Mc Cain; Don’t argue with me any more.
    Giving tax breaks to rich guys is really quite tough!’
    Do you think that care I for the poor?

    Palinisms, in general, seem to be the same Orwellian spin (known to us in the reality based world as LYING) or projection of her/their party’s piss poor policies and ugly agendas onto her/their opponents.

    And there: I thought that I was being clever.

    Although I can not believe that a neo con would refer in derogitory terms to Orwell.

  • Jim

    Oh, you were being clever!

  • Elle

    Yes indeed, quite clever.

    Too bad you couldn’t figure out how to get a rhyme in about Aricept.
