Proposition 8 Opposition Continues, Mostly

Protest against the discriminatory Proposition 8, which bans same-sex marriage in California, and other anti-equality laws around the country, continues. On Friday, there was a protest in Mesa, Arizona against Proposition 102. In eight days, American employers will experience the Day Without a Gay, in which non-heterosexual Americans will call in sick to work in order to demonstrate the significant contributions that GLBT folks make to the economy.

Openly gay Congressman-elect Jared Polis is joining in a protest against Sundance Festival Century Boulder Theater owner Alan Stock, who spent $9,999.00 to help Proposition 8 Pass. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the largest Mormon church), is facing investigations into its involvement in illegally manipulating the electoral politics behind the Proposition 8 passage.

Join the Impact is running strong. So is Stop8.

Some other sites, like Protest 8 seem to have petered out. Others, like like Orange County Prop 8 Protest, have slowed.

Get up. Stand up. It’s time to get a second wind. It’s not yet a month since the passage of Proposition 8. Activism is not a game for sprinters. Persistence wins the day.
