Anarchist Protest at DC Inauguration in Maintenance Mode is a website, the title of which describes “An anarchist protest of the 2009 Presidential Inauguration.” My curiosity is piqued. As far back as December 19, the website linked in to video of a lecture by a UM-Amherst professor called “Capitalism Hits the Fan: A Marxian View” but since then the website has been blank except for the explanation that it has been “undergoing scheduled maintenance,” with the suggestion that I check back in 60 minutes. Isn’t that where most American anarchist protest ends up, online or offline? The endless consensus-based meeting will continue after this twenty-minute breakout session for affinity group caucus sessions…

If you’re interested in shaping what the Come Out 2009 protest will be and you don’t want to wait for the anarchist administrator to shape the terms of facilitated discussion, there is a currently unpopulated forum you could start to post on.

I don’t know… let’s check the web page: ah! Taken down. By The Man, or by secret anarchist plotters? We shall never know. It is a phantom event!

So come on over to 9th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW at NOON on January 20, 2009 for a peaceful pro-Constitution demonstration.
