Alabama Online Activism Disintegration

I’ve been looking at our state-level directory of progressive activism over the last few days, and finding that, whichever corner of the USA I look at, progressive activist organizations have been falling apart. After the flood in independent, innovative grassroots activism in 2004, there has been a worsening drought.

I’ve looked at Hawaii, and I’ve looked at Vermont. Now it’s time to go down south to Alabama.

Alabama Young Democrats is gone.
Equality Alabama is gone.
Alabama League of Environmental Action Voters is gone.
Progressive Democratic Alliance of Alabama is gone.
Mobile Baywatch is gone.
The Alabama Green Party web site is still online, but it hasn’t been updated in over four years.

On the other hand, Left in Alabama is very much on the job, and working hard to confront powerful right wing Alabamians, both Democrat and Republican. Keep up the good work down there.

I am in Alabama. Equality Alabama still sends out emails, but they have no phone number and are very elusive/hard to find.
