The news from over at Eat the View is summed up in this one line: V is for Victory! – vegetable victory, that is.
Although it’s really a bit too early, the Obamas will break ground today on a vegetable garden on the White House lawn. Michelle Obama will be joined today by local children in digging up the ground for the garden.
This date makes the campaign by Kitchen Gardeners International a success. The group urged President Obama to plant a vegetable garden on the White House lawn within his Administration’s first 100 days. The real victory will come if more Americans follow the Obamas’ example, and plant vegetable gardens of their own – to benefit the environment by cutting down on pollution, to benefit the economy by creating a real investment with a real return, and to benefit the nation’s health, by getting some good fresh food into Americans’ bellies.
