Swatting Climate Change

Mother Davis plunges her trowel into the warm ground and pushes the soil to both sides as she comments,

The upside of climate change: Yesterday I planted peas and spinach at the end of March up near the Canadian border, sweating in the hot sun as I do it.

The downside of climate change: The mosquitoes are out two months ahead of schedule, and attracted to the smell of freshly overturned soil.

Climate change makes me itch.

Putting her trowel back on the rack,
Mother Davis
