I visited the London Tamil protest against Sri Lankan government atrocities yesterday, and spoke with many demonstrators about their motivations and intentions for participating in the protest. One of the most consistent themes I heard was that protesters would not leave the square outside the British Parliament until there was a permanent cease fire.
There is no cease fire, permanent or otherwise. Yet, here was the scene I saw when I went back to Parliament at 11:00 this morning to conduct follow-up interviews with protesters:
So much for the Tamils’ dedication to see the protests through until the end. You’re never going to get a cease fire if you cease protests.
