Warn Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama About the Danger of Hubris

“That’s not Change! That’s more of the Same!” — Joseph Biden

Late last week, word was leaked from the White House that both President Barack Obama and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had “warned” liberal activists not to air advertisements criticizing Democrats who failed to live up to those activists’ policy expectations.

You heard that right. An American President and his right-hand man are letting it be known that certain viewpoints should not be spoken in America, that certain people should not feel free to speak their mind and petition the government for redress of grievance.

Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel just took a big whizz on the First Amendment.

When George W. Bush tried this kind of “watch what you say, watch what you do,” liberals rained their dismay down upon him. How about now?

Someone needs to warn Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama about the political cost of hubris.

    Same bullshit, different face.

  • You’re quoting an editorial on a supposed leak from un-named sources. There are no direct quotes from either Barack Obama nor Rahm Emanuel. In fact at the end of the article “Democracy Now” states that they’ve heard no such thing from the White House.

Worse than weak, totally unsubstantiated old-lady gossip reported as news.

You mean “Democracy For America.” “Democracy Now” is a radio program. And the article does not clarify whether Democracy for America is one of the groups present at Rahm Emanuel’s meeting, which would clearly make a big difference.
