The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (the U.K. equivalent of the ASPCA) reports that five dead seals have been found on a British beach. All of the seals were young, one of them just weeks old.
Three of them had their heads cut off.
There’s no indication in the reports that the baby seals’ fur had been removed, or that any other economically valuable parts had been taken. So, this isn’t a simple case of poaching.
What could possibly motivate a person to do such a thing?
