Americans Elect and the Fundraiser Without Funds

Here’s a small curiosity to puzzle over.

In its 2nd quarter 2010 IRS disclosure, Americans Elect, the Section 527 Corporation with the goal of electing its own U.S. presidential ticket in 2012, lists a $603 “fundraising expense” at Boston’s Nine Zero Hotel on June 27, 2010. But no funds are reported to have been raised by Americans Elect after May 17, when the Americans Elect Chairman Peter Ackerman chipped in his second of two $200,000 contributions to the corporation.

Was this money spent on something other than fundraising? Or did everyone who was asked that night simply say no?
