Blue Dog Coalition Splits on Tax Cuts for the Rich: 32 Won’t Sign

It is striking to see 31 tin-ear Democrats demand tax cuts for the rich during a very nasty recession in which rich Americans are seeing their income go up and everyone else is seeing their income go down. But the list of people who wouldn’t sign their names to that demand is striking, too.

The Blue Dog Coalition is a set of 54 members of the U.S. House of Representatives who describe themselves as “conservative Democrats” and whose impulse has been to cozy up to corporate lobbyists and protect the prerogatives of America’s wealthiest citizens.

Lines on a Congressional Letter left blank, without the signatures of RepresentativesIs it a sign of the times that 32 out of the 54 Blue Dogs in the House refused to sign Jim Matheson‘s letter demanding tax cuts for the rich? In a bit of a goof, the administrative assistant in charge of distributing that letter to the press forgot to white out the blanks for expected signatures that didn’t materialize.

The following are the 32 Blue Dogs who refused to put their name on a letter demanding tax cuts for the well-off while the rest of America suffers. This time, they’re sitting it out:

Michael Arcuri (NY-24)
Joe Baca (CA-43)
Marion Berry (AR-01)
Leonard Boswell (IA-03)
Bobby Bright (AL-02)
Dennis Cardoza (CA-18)

They’re probably holding out for “a little sumpm-sumpm” from the powers that be to “sweeten the deal.”

    Iam disgusted with you.
