Oil Is Not My Addiction Of Choice

In 2006, President George W. Bush admitted that “America is addicted to oil”.

Last summer, President Barack Obama cited “America’s century-long addiction to fossil fuels.”

What have either one of them done to break our national addiction to oil? Zip. In fact, both Obama and Bush have worked to feed America’s oil addition, by expanding offshore drilling for oil. It’s like responding to a heroin addict’s suffering by finding them more dealers to buy from, and planting fields of opium poppies.

As addictions go, our addiction to oil isn’t even very satisfying. It’s nasty, vile, and polluting. We could be addicted to chocolate, or to alcohol, or to old movies. Any of those choices would be an awful lot better, don’t you think?

That idea is the inspiration for the t-shirt you see here: Oil is Not My Addiction of Choice.

Alcohol is decidedly NOT better, sorry.

  2. Green Man says:

Than oil? Oh, come on. You can make it taste pretty good. Can’t say that for crude oil.
