#9 Way to Exasperate a Liberal: Start another Conservative Kill ‘Em All Rant

#9 out of our 365 Ways to Exasperate a Liberal: Pick a “Them” and make a call to Kill Them All.

A few hours before a psychotic gunman shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in the head, killed a federal judge, killed a congressional aide, killed a 9 year old girl and three septugenarians, and wounded many others on January 9 2011, Irregular Times got a piece of hate mail in our inbox. The sender: one Tony Caputo, a contributor to desertconservative.com:

FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE, THEY KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE ON A BUS, YOU BLOW UP A TOWN OR VILLAGE IN IRAN, IRAQ OR YEMEN………SOONER OF LATER THE MUSLIMS WILL GET FED UP WITH THEIR BROTHER TERRORIST AND TURN ON THEM.

STOP BUYING MUSLIMS AND FINANCING THEIR KILLING AND EVIL……..DRILL BABY DRILL!

SHOW AS MUCH RESPECT FOR LIFE AS THESE COCKROACHES DO……KILL OR BE KILLED!…….

This call by Tony Caputo isn’t new. In August of 2010, as a participant in the movement to ban the building of mosques in America, Caputo volunteered the following idea:

America should Bomb all Office Building in the Middle East, then build Synagogues next to the New Building, once they are rebuilt!

The call to do-unto-others-as-they-might-do-unto-us isn’t limited to Tony Caputo, either. One of the central arguments of the mosque-banning movement is that we shouldn’t have religious freedom in America because Saudia Arabia doesn’t have religious freedom. On the more openly violent end of things, the most popular YouTube video of Spring 2003 was the perverse rewording of the Beatles’ “All Together Now” into “Time to Bomb Saddam.” At the time, kids were wearing “Fuq Irak” shirts with glee, when they weren’t donning shirts that read “Then Bomb France.” Four years later presidential candidate John McCain got a giggle out of singing “Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran.”

How can you get a giggle out of the idea of dropping bombs on countries? In Tony Caputo’s case, how do you work up the ire to demand in all caps that entire villages of people be wiped out? You have to turn those people into “cockroaches.” Every day for months on end, Caputo has been sending his screeds to dozens of media outlets, and in nearly every one he refers to Muslims as “cockroaches.” It’s so much easier to wipe out cockroaches than it is to wipe out people.

I wish every person who starts talking about “Them” as if they were cockroaches or rats or sub-human killer apes to be exterminated would read history and find out what happens when on occasion somebody manages to set about on that mission of killing “Them” all, of bombing entire cities with giggles and jocularity. It never ends well. What restrains this sort of violence, most of the time, is the realization that people living in other places with different ideas and with foreign last names are still people, just like the people who live down the street where we live. If it is an abominable act for people across an ocean to kill innocent people as if they were “cockroaches,” then it is wrong for us to do the same. To stop the cockroach people like Tony Caputo from starting another bloody holy war, it is essential for sensible people to speak this truth out loud.

Oh just wait til the situation gets really bad here – with nothing but menial temp jobs or unemployment as the choices, many of these disillusioned, dissatisfied and delusional people who need real help (and the state can’t afford it due to budget cuts) will be taking out their displeasure on innocent by-standers to their melt-downs. i’m not surprised that this happened (especially with all the Beck, Palin, Limbaugh violent rhetoric being spewed 24/7) and am sorry that this is the unfortunate way these people deal with politics, disagreements in policy and vent their anger now. It used to be nice to hear legitimate logical discourse on real issues that people could put to a vote, but those days ended about 10 yrs ago with Bush II being given the presidency by the Supreme Court. Now (as Obama found out the hard way) their is no bi-partisanship and bumper sticker sound bytes have supplanted discussion, logical argument and even facts. In this climate, is it any wonder that democracy has been replaced, that the rule of law has been circumvented and our rormer system of government has been “gamed?”
