Rep. Allen West Plays Anti-Mosque Movement for Chumps

When he was running for Congress in the fall of 2010, Republican candidate Allen West demanded action by government officials to prohibit Americans from building mosques in New York City.

Allen West’s official 2010 campaign statement on the building of mosques in America:

I am very concerned about the decision in NYC reference the approval to construct a mosque near the sacred Ground Zero site in New York City.

Leadership is based upon courage, competence, commitment, conviction, and character, something lacking in those supporting the building of this structure. Mayor Bloomberg’s assertion that refusal to allow this mosque to be built would be a victory for islamic terrorists is an illogical statement. He certainly has not studied the history of islamic conquest against western civilization. I am available for a tutorial.

It never ceases to amaze me how liberals can take an act of cowardice and make it sound profoundly brave. There is a simple maxim that I use to express this situation, “when tolerance becomes a one way street, it leads to cultural suicide”. The individuals who hijacked two airplanes and flew them into the World Trade Center towers shouted, “Allahu Akhbar”. The individuals who will attend the mosque would offer up like praise of “Allahu Akhbar”. The individuals who detonate suicide vests, behead school teachers and headmasters, throw acid on little girls trying to attend school, and fire rockets into Israel shout, “Allahu Akhbar”.

I do not support the building of a mosque at ground zero.

Don’t you love the logic? Let’s extend it. The individuals who hijacked two airplanes and flew them into the World Trade Center got haircuts. Allen West got a haircut — and now he’s in Congress!!!

Let’s extend that logic in another direction. Did you know what “Allahu Akhbar” translates to in English? “God is Great.” The individuals who hijacked two airplanes and flew them into the World Trade Center shouted “God is Great.” Attendees at the Lakeside Baptist Church shout “God is Great.” Attendees at the Kaleo San Diego Christian Church shout “God is Great.” Little Christian children at dinner tables around the nation are indoctrinated into chanting “God is Great” every night before tucking into their food. Outlaw them. Outlaw them all!

Allen West would not be deterred by mere logic, and he would not let America’s leaders off the hook for their inaction on banning mosques. On the necessity of action to prohibit the building of mosques:

For them to say on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 they want to have an Islamic center there, that is a slap in the face to the American people and especially to those who lost their loved ones on that day. Any person that does not stand up, and allows this to continue on, I really challenge them as a leader, I challenge them as a person committed to the American way of life and our principles.

You heard Allen West. So now that Allen West has been elected to Congress, surely he will take action to stop the building of that mosque in New York City, right? Because, hey, “any person that does not stand up, and allows this to continue on,” is not worthy of respect as a leader and is not committed to the American way of life, right? Any leader who won’t act to stop the building of a mosque is lacking in “courage, competence, commitment, conviction, and character,” right?

Well, whoopsie: now that he’s been elected, it turns out Allen West hasn’t introduced any bill to ban the mosque. He hasn’t so much as introduced a symbolic resolution to declare the mosque nasty. He hasn’t even made any remarks on the subject before Congress. Go ahead and see for yourself.

Why, what could explain this? It might be that Allen West never meant to do anything about the building of a mosque in New York City. It might be that Allen West just played the anti-mosque movement of conservative bigots for chumps. But no, that can’t be it. Allen West has “The Honorable” in front of his name, after all. It must be the haircut.

” anti-mosque movement of conservative bigots” So let me get this straight…The only reason a person could have for being against the mosque at ground zero, is because they are a bigot? And being against Islamic Imperialism is bigotry too?

Read the dictionary definition of the word “bigot,” then study what Allen West and the anti-mosque movement is openly saying, and you will have your answer.
