Kelly Ayotte Tried To Protect Alleged Terrorists From Justice
It’s almost the weekend, but before you go turn off your thinking caps, we have time for a pop quiz. Don’t worry, this is an easy one.
Question: Someone is suspected of a terrible crime has been captured. What happens next?
Think now… don’t hurry…
Okay, time’s up!
Answer: You put them on trial, and if there’s evidence that the suspect is guilty, you convict and punish…
… unless you’re Senator Kelly Ayotte.
If you’re Senator Ayotte, you introduce a bill in Congress to make it illegal for prosecutors to put the suspected criminal on trial!
No kidding. This is really what happened yesterday. Kelly Ayotte brought up an amendment to an amendment to H.R. 2112, an agricultural bill. Ayotte’s amendment, if passed, would have protected certain suspected criminals from being put on trial.
Bonus Question: Guess who those suspected criminals are.
Answer: Kelly Ayotte’s legislation would have protected people alleged to have participated in the terrorist networks that attacked America on September 11, 2011 from being put on trial.
It’s absurd. We’ve waited for 10 years to see these people subjected to a trial in our nation’s system of justice. Why is Kelly Ayotte trying to stop the trials of suspected terrorists? Does she believe in the American system of justice or doesn’t she?
Extra Super Special Bonus Round: Name one of the 46 U.S. Senators who voted with Kelly Ayotte to try to prevent justice from being served.
