Buddy Roemer participates in Americans Elect public forum at Harvard University
Daily Caller, November 10, 2011:

Last week, Roemer campaign manager Carlos Sierra told The Daily Caller that while he had been exploring other possible options for his candidate, Roemer himself was still focused on the Republican primary. But on Wednesday Sierra suggested that Roemer is aware of his actions and was beginning to consider the idea.

“The whole South Carolina and Florida thing — it’s definitely getting him thinking a little more about other options,” Sierra said….

Sierra also noted that he had attended a forum at Harvard University held by Americans Elect, a group that is working to build the necessary framework for a bipartisan third-party run in 2012.

  • I never said to Eric Dondero, who runs the Libertarian Republican blog, that Buddy Roemer himself has been talking to leaders of Americans Elect. I was misquoted.

So because a campaign manager had a meeting that is news? Wow are you really scared that Governor Roemer a private man who actually speaks the right message is going to ruin it for Ron Paul?! Do you know how many meetings a campaign manager takes or goes to in a day? Did they announce that they are dropping their run for the GOP? No! They are just having a meeting. Hey, don’t look now Carlos Seira just had a meeting with a advisor on the military, does that mean we are invading another country? NO!

Eileen has a point, you know. Yes, strong winds are a-blowin! You can hear those muffled gusts o’ pure Louisiana natural gas rippin’ all the way back east, mumbling “Draft Buddy Roemer! Draft Buddy Roemer!”

By the way, Carlos had this meeting last week or so according to the article and the American’s Elect website, do you really think they created a poll and data that quick to have Roemer listed as the top match? NO! I bet you they have been working on weeks for that and your just upset that no one cares about your candidate.

Oops, I just tripped over a pile of assumptions.

  • I just came across an article in Newsweek as a result of my Google Alert for “Buddy Roemer.” I urge all to read it! It says that AE has talked to THIRTY-FIVE potential candidates, so it doesn’t seem as if they are favoring Roemer.

I did a quick scan of an email I recently received from AE and it indicated to me that Ron Paul and Elizabeth Warren were favorites, with Roemer mentioned quite a few times.

Actually, as an anti-free trader for a couple decades (I was a Perotian from before he ever got on Larry King program and went ballistic)–the dangers of NAFTA has been a passion of mine since the late 80s. And I truly believe a good part of the malaise and dissatisfaction and “we’re going in the wrong direction” mood of this country is exactly due to the RESULTS of NAFTA. MOST people (from years of collecting signatures etc.l), when it comes to the economy would be surprised to realize they are Pat Buchanan wing Republicans — i.e. economic natioanlists.

It is THIS, if anything that may result in a poll saying Roemer comes closest to those who’ve signed on. 1) the concept of “free” trade is so preposterous, and the more y ou know of it and how it was passed the MORE preposterous it is and 2) the surge of opinion that we want our jobs BACK not just more preaching we have to be satisfied to be a “service” economy forevermore IS by far the majority of the country’s view whether liberal middle or conservative.

So I personally believe Roemer has best chance of beating Obama if you want to couch it in those terms. I’d be pleased if his presence just FORCED THE OTHER TWO PARTIES TO TALK ABOUT trade. They seem to be doing that now. Romney (I believe because of Roemer) IS talking tough on China. Never has before. And the Prez is saying in Hawaii, China needs to change.

Thing is you can’t really TRUST a truly committed globalist free trader! It’s their religion as much as keeping women down is a religion of the Taliban. They don’t look at disastrous results to American economy–just respond by chanting “globalist free mark economy” as if it were the rosary or something.

The accusation in one of this web sites comments that this “globalist” secret group plan to take over AE is MY concern too. I just think (after reading Newsweek article and few others by ballot access experts, etc.) that, that hasn’t happened thus far. I WANT IT TO WORK!!
