Americans Elect Opens Presidential Nomination System… With Literally 1 Person, 1 Vote

They say that the greatness of the American political system is built upon the principle of 1 Person, 1 Vote.

If that’s true, then Americans Elect has reached the pinnacle of greatness today.

The Americans Elect system for drafting presidential candidates is open today, with a mere 77 days between now and the casting of the first ballot. It’ll be tough for any draft candidate to get sufficient grassroots support in that short period: 10,000 supporters by the easiest standard, 50,000 supporters by the toughest standard.

  • Okay, end snark.

    That was a fun post, but seriously, we should all take a close look at how this system unfolds. Some interesting features are already emerging, and I’ll write more about them later today.
