Jelly Belly Elephant Droppings

Easter is coming up some time soon, and so many people are getting in the mood to eat some jelly beans. That’s fine. I’m in no position to judge people for eating sugary snacks.

elephant droppings for easterI do have one request, though: As you choose your Easter basket yummies, please don’t buy Jelly Bellies. Buy another brand of jelly bean.

The reason for this request: Jelly Belly jelly beans are essentially elephant droppings.

The piles and piles of Jelly Belly candies that are sold at Easter time produce profits from which Jelly Belly executives make payments to Republican politicians. Data from the Center for Responsive Politics shows that 99.5% of political donations made by Jelly Belly executives over the last three election cycles have gone to Republican candidates.

When you buy Jelly Belly candies, you’re helping to support right wing extremist ideology. That is likely to put a sour taste in the mouths of the people who receive your Easter baskets.

On the other hand, if you think that Obama and the plastic-faced Pelosi need to be replaced, buy those Jelly Bellies. They are good.

And where do the donations of the other companies go?
What do we have to do to get Obama to be a progressive Democratic president (you know – turn back into the guy he was on the campaign trail)?

i used to make a joke but now i am the joke.
