The Winter Outside is Delightful

image

We’ve only just begun to receive our latest snowstorm up here in Maine, but the first few inches delight me, with the promise of feet to come. I’ll have some work to do to make my immediate environment livable, but after a winter that wasn’t last year I’m refreshed. It’s good to have summer heat followed by cool. It’s good to have blanketing snow to contrast the summer sun. If you are in the path of this winter gift, tell me about it.

Stay snug and enjoy, Jim, and keep those feeders full for the poor wee bairdees! Alas, we can’t be more than hours away from some know-nothing proclaiming that this storm conclusively disproves global warming.

  • I’m sure we’ll have that — and given that Maine was one of the centers of Know Nothing activity, I wouldn’t be surprised to see such opinion coming from my neck of the woods.

    You keep snug too.

    Jim-MAY! Bill-LAY!

We didn’t get much down here in western Chester County PA (maybe a coupla inches). Watching the birds (and squirrels) at the feeders is one of my Weimaraner’s favorite activities (dog reality tv). Yesterday there was a sizable flock of geese flying over the back of the house in a giant circle before they headed south. Watch yer back on the shovelling – do it in increments and REST in between. Stay safe guys. i hope the power isn’t affected by the snow up there. Keep in touch.
