Restore the 4th announces August 4 Protests against Warrantless Surveillance in LA, SD and NYC

If you’ve been paying attention over the last few months, you know that the NSA and FBI have been engaging in massive warrantless seizure and storage of innocent people’s internet records, phone records and even postal mail habits. Crowds of people protested that surveillance activity in a large number of cities on July 4 as part of a new “Restore the 4th” social movement in support of our Fourth Amendment constitutional rights.

That movement hasn’t gone away. On August 4 — dubbed “1984 Day” — Restore the 4th has announced that it will hold a second round of concentrated protests major cities. If you’ve had enough of the Big Brother tactics of your government and you have access to New York City, San Diego or Los Angeles, keep August 4th free to get out and demonstrate in numbers. If you don’t live there, stay tuned — Restore the 4th promises to provide updated data (I’m hearing rumors about Austin, Texas) on this page over here.
