Challenge: Isn’t Life/Jesus/Love Like That?

While you’re waiting to tuck into crescent rolls, a challenge:

Relate a mundane event that happened to you today.

Add “Isn’t Life Like That?” or “Isn’t Jesus Like That?” or “Isn’t Love Like That?”

See if you’ve got an instant Vinyl Cafe story, Sermon, or basis for a hit song.

This morning, I drove to work in my old Toyota Prius with just an inch of snow covering the roads. It seems odd that you can say “old Toyota Prius” now, but it’s true. I had scheduled my regular tires to be swapped out for snow tires tomorrow, but wouldn’t you know it, the snow came today. I didn’t think that one inch of snow could cause a problem, and I was doing just fine until I came to a big hill. Halfway up, my speed started to drop. 35 miles an hour, 30 miles an hour, 20 miles an hour, 10 miles an hour. I could see the top… and then the car just wouldn’t go forward another inch. As long as I kept my foot on the gas, I didn’t slide down the hill, but I didn’t feel safe like that. Fortunately, there was no one behind me, so after a moment or two and one good deep breath, I just let my foot off the gas and started to coast down the hill. In my right rear mirror I could see a hillside farm’s broad driveway, and timing it just right I turned, backwards, into that driveway. Sitting in the driveway, safe but thwarted, I had to decide whether to try heading up the hill or to drive down the hill and give up the easy path to my destination. I wanted to go up the hill. I went down the hill.

    Isn’t love like that?
