I would be ashamed and embarrassed to have such a lavish income and not support people who are struggling. I don’t think I could live with myself. These people need to get down on their knees and thank God that they are so lucky! Shame on them!

SHAME ON YOU….how do you greedy crooks sleep at night? obviously very well….you can’t even BEGIN to understand what it’s like to be 60 yrs. old and looking for employment…I have always worked…I have a great resume yet my biggest obstacle is that no matter how great my resume is…I am considered “too old”…yes, age discrimination is alive and well in this country…I have 5 weeks of unemployment benefits left from the measily 20 weeks I have been granted and I don’t know what’s going to happen with my home and my monthly debts if the EUC benefits are not extended….SHAME ON YOU SENATORS..I pray that KARMA visits each and every one of you multimillionaires….you are despicable!

Rosemary Bayus, im in same position. I worked all my life and now im facing same life problems as you and millions , because of AGE DISCRIMINATION(I was send from my work exactelly 11 days before my 60-et birthday, this is quiet obvious!). I feel same like you feel about ignorance of this cruel businessman .sometimes (when im very desperate) I wish they all will taste our pain and our fears, but than I realize that really I do not wish for anyone to be in my or your situation, not even for one second. In Greek mythology ,one character (Midas) who was very greedy wished from gods to have ability to create gold. His wish was granted but soon after his excitement of being able to create gold,he realized that even food and water that he touch is also turning into gold/metal what he could not consume to support his physical life. Here is quote from Britannica : .”Midas was rewarded by Dionysius with a wish .THE KING(Midas) WISHED that all he touched might turn into gold, but when HIS FOOD became gold and he nearly starved to death,HE REALIZED his error.”Really WHAT can they do with all this millions if they do not share with others. and do not use it for something positive. ? So I hope that our ‘Midas’ will realize they error and fix this situation very soon, URGENT in beautiful way , without hurting masses of people .Be positive, trust people ,trust them, they only lost connection to the masses, they do not know us personally and think that we and our basic existential needs really do not exist, They think we are only some numbers in statistics and tax payers(Numbers do not need food, place to live, numbers do not feel ,numbers do not cry !) .I hope they hearts are still human hearts and they will realize that we are not only numbes but REAL PERSONS who do deserve to be treated with love and care. May we all be well and learn to care for each others and respect each other rights to enjoy this life and be productive.

I hadn’t realized that Harry Reid voted against it — and was the only Dem to do so. WTF’s up with that?

    • Jim Cook

Good question. The answer is that according to arcane Senate rules, a measure that’s voted down cannot be reintroduced if the majority leader supports it. So to preserve the right to bring up the measure again, Majority Leader Harry Reid voted against the bill once he saw it would not pass.
