11 months and counting.
That’s how long it’s been since the official petition to pardon Edward Snowden surpassed the threshold on petitions.whitehouse.gov above which the Obama administration promised to offer a substatntive response. The Obama administration pledged that of all petitions receiving a hundred thousand petitions, “White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.”
As of today, the Obama administration has been absolutely silent regarding the petition for 11 months.
The Obama administration doesn’t wait this long to respond to Senators. The Obama administration doesn’t wait this long to respond to reporters. The Obama administration doesn’t wait this long to respond to campaign contributors. The petitioner and more than 150,000 signatories to the petition are just average citizens. Everyday people who ask difficult questions are not getting the same respect as the rich and powerful, even though they followed the Obama administration’s arbitrary rules.
How long is too long to wait? How long is long enough to call this a broken promise?
