Do Native-Born Americans Work More Than Immigrants? Do White Anglo Immigrants Work More than Non-White and Hispanic Immigrants?

Here at Irregular Times and elsewhere in forums of political debate in the Unites States, right-wing commentators have been fond of insulting immigrants. One line of their argument declares that immigrants come here to this country so they can be lazy and soak up benefits while lounging around in blissful unemployment.  Lately, I’ve heard particular ire directed toward non-Anglo, non-white immigrants.  If only the “good” white immigrants were allowed in greater numbers while the “bad” Latino, African and other dark-skinned immigrants were kept out, then America could get back to work, they say.

This is what I’m told. This is the story. Why don’t we stop telling stories and check the facts?

The facts, courtesy of the latest release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:

  • The labor force participation rate of immigrants to the United States is 66.0%.
  • The labor force participation rate of native-born American citizens is lower, at 62.3%.
  • The labor force participation rate of black non-Latino immigrants is 71.1%.
  • The labor force participation rate of Asian non-Latino immigrants is 63.8%.
  • The labor force participation rate of Latino immigrants is 63.9%.
  • The labor force participation rate of white non-Latino immigrants is only 59.5%.

    Just one example.

For context on the victim-card play by Frank, he’s the fellow who told us that there was not ONE marvel of Africa, then promotly lost the challenge. He’s trolling.

Steve King, Republican congressman of Iowa, explaining why you don’t want immigrants from undesirable countries:

“You get the pick of the litter and you got yourself a pretty good bird dog. Well, we’ve got the pick of every donor civilization on the planet,” King said.

So no, no lie. But your bigotry is fact-proof. So if you respond at all, you’ll ignore this and change the subject.

Immigrants aren’t lazy, they are just too many for the jobs available. There aren’t enough for the citizens. Compliance with Equal Rights laws have altered the percentage of ‘whites’ that have jobs, by causing employers to hire other people by race first and qualifications second. Not saying ‘others’ are not qualified, today more so than ever. So of course, by now there are fewer ‘whites’ employed. And you at Irregular Times, as generous with patience as you are, realize that the population in the United States is shifting from the former ‘white’ dominated nation it was, to ‘other’. If predictions come true, the ‘white’ or Scandinavian based, and Caucasian based races will be in the minority by 2043. Many living today will see the reduction of those races before mid-century. I wonder if the new majority will then give to the new minority, jobs, welfare, homes, free education, transportation, medical care, etc. Truthfully, I do not know, but I will bet they won’t pay the expense of child carrying and birth for the ‘whites’, so they come back into the majority, or course that is an opinion.

Do you have documentation for these claims, Ella?

        I have first hand knowledge.

Personal experience doesn’t equal the general trend.

“Many living today will see the reduction of those races before mid-century.”

You mean white people are getting shorter, Ella?

Seriously, if you’ve been to the future, can you share some lottery numbers with me? I’ll cut the winnings with you.

    3. ella says:

I have no idea where that came from, it was not a conscious thought. But many will see the ‘white’ races reduced to a minority before mid-century
if the Census predictions are correct. That is interesting, that ‘the reduction of those races’…I still don’t know where that came from. It is not something I can say or nay say.
