Half Of Americans Want Warlike Religious President
The Pew Center for Religion and Public Life just came out with the results of a survey that glances across some trends relating to the collision of Americans’ religious attitudes and 2016 presidential politics. Among the results of the survey is the finding that:
– 50 percent of Americans would prefer the next President to have been trained to kill through military training
– 51 percent of Americans would prefer that the next President to believe in God – the divinity claimed by Jewish and Christian monotheists
What would be fascinating would be an analysis from Pew to determine the degree to which these two groups coincide. That analysis has not been performed, but the Pew analysis did indicate that 27 percent more Protestants than religious unaffiliated Americans regard military training in violence as a positive presidential characteristic.
Religion of peace, huh?
