A Homeland Security You Can Take Out Of The Home With You
This week, U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi, introduced H.R. 4780, “A bill to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop a comprehensive strategy for Department of Homeland Security operations abroad”.
Maybe my vision hasn’t been sufficiently expanded by the fear of evildoers who are constantly poised to kill us all, but somehow almost never manage to actually put a plan into action, but I seem to remember that the whole point of the Department of Homeland Security was to enact security programs in “The Homeland”, which is a name that people made up for the United States a few years ago, when they were hoping for an extended American empire around the world.
There are already federal departments and agencies, such as the Defense Department and the CIA, devoted to spying on and killing people in foreign countries. So, why does the Secretary of Homeland Security need to develop a comprehensive strategy for operations outside of “The Homeland”?
Could I offer a friendly amendment to rename H.R. 4780 the Duplicating Efforts And Stepping On People’s Toes Act?
