Liveblogging The 2016 Republican Convention Night 2

The second night of the GOP national convention in 2016 is seeing yet another revolt against the nomination of Donald Trump. Yesterday, the Colorado delegation walked out in protest against Trump’s push toward the nomination. Tonight, the Alaska delegation is protesting Trump by engaging in an appeal of the awarding of nominating votes from their state The leader of the Alaska delegation is promising to take up time “as much as we can”, even “to stop the convention and file an appeal”. The Alaska delegation has effectively wrecked the schedule of pro-Trump speeches for the evening television presentation, including a surprise speech by Donald Trump himself that was to have been shown at 9:00 PM.

Preacher begins the speeches by declaring that the Republican delegates have been chosen by God. That may be news to Republican voters.

The President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship says that Americans should vote for Donald Trump because Trump props up fight promoters. Trump calls on the phone, he says, and says, “Hey, good luck with the fights tonight,” and that will translate into how he runs this country as President.

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson says that if we vote for Donald Trump, we’ll get a United States that’s as good as… Arkansas, a state ranked as the 6th most miserable state in the USA.

Donald Trump is now being praised by Michael Mukasey, who as George W. Bush’s Attorney General personally approved the use of torture, and then helped to cover it up by refusing to tell members of Congress what was going on.

Andy West says that people should respond to corporations shipping jobs overseas by voting for Donald Trump, who uses his companies to ship American jobs overseas.

Senator Ron Johnson endorses Donald Trump, who Paul Ryan described as promoting “textbook racism”.

Chris Cox opposes having Secret Service protection for the President of the United States and the First Family.

Natalie Gulbis says that God has placed Donald Trump in the position of the Republican presidential nominee. Gulbis then says that America is the greatest nation in the history of the world, but that America is a mess, and needs to be made great again.

Donald Trump’s “appearance” seems to be only a pre-recorded video message. Yawn. Why isn’t Trump in Cleveland?

Mitch McConnell says that we should elect Donald Trump in order to repeal health care reform and force pipelines built across the nation in violation of environmental regulations. Then, McConnell defends Rrepublican Senate’s refusal to provide full funding of federal efforts to control the Zika virus.

Paul Ryan once observed that Donald Trump engages in “textbook racism“. Now, Paul Ryan promises he’ll be “right there with Vice President Mike Pence and President Donald Trump.” So, apparently, Paul Ryan is in favor of textbook racism. Paul Ryan has repeatedly voted against raising wages, and now he complains that “wages never seem to go up.” Paul Ryan endorses Donald Trump’s embrace of white supremacism, then asks us to “see beyond ethnicity”.

Jumping in again on your thread, F.G.:

Speaking at the Republican National Convention: the manager of the Trump Winery & Hotel? Talking about how good the wine is? This is really weird.

New policy announcement: Donald Trump, Jr. wants all American children to go to an elite expensive boarding prep school like he did.

Annual tuition at The Hill School, the elite boarding prep school Donald Trump, Jr. attended: $55660, plus academic, athletic, music and additional elective fees. Donald Trump, Jr. just said all American kids should go to the kind of school he went to. Looking forward to the policy plan for that.
