    Unfortunately, the term “theory”has two different, and widely opposite, meanings. In the vernacular sense, a theory is really no different from a guess or an unsupported idea. In the scientific sense, a theory is an idea with a tremendous amount of data and observations backing it up. I would be interested in finding out which definition of “theory” is presented in your figure.
