The Spiraling Gateway To Transcendence

This afternoon, I walked past the opening bloom of a plant known by botanists as Datura, also known by the common name of loco weed.

The spiral at the core of its unfolding petals reminded me of the special hallucinogenic properties found throughout the plant, and used in rites of passage by native Americans, and, some say, by witches riding their broomsticks in Europe and Asia.
