Trump Administration Official Comes Out Against Freedom of the Press

First Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“No law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

White House Senior Advisor Stephen K. Bannon:

The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut.”

Just as Republican Bush administration official Ari Fleischer found out when told Americans they “need to watch what they say, watch what they do,” so Trump administration official Steve Bannon will find out that we little people in the opposition don’t take kindly to being told by the government to sit down and shut up.

The American people should say whatever they damned well please. Members of the press should say whatever they damned well please. This is still the United States of America.

Brannon is right. We little people should be in awe of the very wealthy wise leaders who will now lead us into greatness. But that pesky news media is right in the way! They are nothing but a large group of left wing liberals (“Liberalism is a disease” -Michael Savage, conservative radio talk show host) trying to make things difficult for us God fearing White-Anglo-Saxon-Protestant-Very Rich billionaires trying to impose our will upon the little man. The media should keep its mouth shut! Welcome to the New Communist China American style!

Anyone who uses the phrase “the media” in the way that Steve Bannon used it is either dishonest or an idiot.

The media cannot be humiliated and embarrassed. The media has no mouth to keep shut.

Media are merely means of communication.

Paper is a medium. Paint is a medium. Telephones are a medium. Television is a medium. Photography is a medium. The internet is a medium. Music is a medium.Together, they are media. All things of this sort, considered collectively, are the media.

What Steve Bannon really means is that journalists should be humiliated and embarrassed and silent.

But, gosh, when he says it that way, it sounds fascist. So, he uses the vague phrase “the media”. When he says that “the media” should be embarrassed and humiliated and shut its mouth, he is calling for all communication to stop, for all speech, all writing, all art, all education to stop.

Steve Bannon is the person who ought to feel embarrassed, having modified the already dishonest Breitbart organization into a medium for the promotion of American Nazism.
