Donald Trump Admits He Fired Comey Because Of Russia Investigation
Earlier this week, Donald Trump fired James Comey, who as Director of the FBI was conducting an investigation into Trump’s role in a Russian attack against the United States in 2016. At the time, the Trump White House insisted that the firing of Comey was not an attempt to stifle the Russia investigation. However, the Acting FBI Director testified to Congress yesterday that Trump’s explanations of why and how the firing took place were inaccurate.
Last night, Trump put a nail in his own coffin by admitting on national television that yes, he fired James Comey because he was angry about the investigation into the links between Trump and Russian spies sent by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Trump declared, “In fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats.'”
It is no longer conjecture that Trump fired Comey to try to stop the investigation of his collusion with a Russian attack against the United States. Trump himself confirmed it.
How can Republicans in Congress convene today without beginning the impeachment process? Sadly, they are likely to go forward in the same way that they have ignored all of the other astonishingly terrible things Donald Trump has done.
Donald Trump may be a corrupt, criminal, volatile, senile traitor, but he’s a Republican. So, we can count on Republicans in Congress to do nothing as this crisis grows.
