Donald Trump Breaks Health Care Promise, Moves To Kick Millions Off Health Care
When he was a presidential candidate, Donald Trump promised great health care that would be available to all Americans: “Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now,” he said. “We’re going to have insurance for everybody. There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.”
When it came to the health care program known as Medicaid, Donald Trump made a very specific promise: “There will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.”
The truth is cruelly different.
Tomorrow, Donald Trump is delivering his very first budget request to Congress. In that budget, Donald Trump proposes slashing Medicaid spending by $800 billion dollars.
At the same time, Donald Trump will be making health care for low income Americans even more necessary, by cutting $193 billion from food stamps programs, leaving more Americans to starve.
These cuts to Medicaid and other programs will pay for generous tax cuts for America’s richest families and most powerful corporations.
