Wife Getting On My Case

Irregular Times writer J. Clifford gets banal.

Oi. It’s very personal, but when a man is challenged by his wife, what’s he supposed to do? Go put on a pair of bunny slippers and give up?

Heck no. Tonight, my wife has been reading some of what I write on Irregular Times, and she has let me know that she thinks I’m being too crabby.

She wants me to let you know that I don’t know everything, and that I’m not right all the time, and that I don’t have the answer for everything, and that I don’t always know what the truth is.

Why don’t you write that on one of your blogs, smart aleck? she said to me. I’ll bet that will get a couple of comments.

Anyone care to prove her right?

Even irregular husbands get nagged.

Oh, how very banal of me.

  I get it. When jclifford doesn’t agree with one hundred per cent of what someone else says it’s called “engaging in a little bit of skeptical inquiry.” If his wife does it, it’s called “nagging”. To quote what jclifford said to someone else less than 2 hours ago, “Just don’t be surprised if people think you’re pathetically mistaken.”

  Mrs. J.C., you go right ahead and put those bunny slippers on him. He needs to relax, work on his self-esteem, and examine his dietary intake for too much sugar or caffeine. Then, if you have any personal problems with each other and your marriage means anything at all to you, you need to work it out between yourselves, instead of taking it to a public forum.

  What does all that actually mean in plain english? Are you saying jclifford is a hypocrit or his wife is a nag or what? Sounds to me like she reminded him he’s not “perfect” all the time…which is hardly nagging.
  I don’t think jclifford was hypocritical to post his comment because he made harmony with his wife at no real cost to himself….why sweat the little things??
