If America Won’t Get Outraged For Killing An Old Man in His Wheelchair…

If we aren't outraged about our military butchering an old man in a wheelchair, when will be outraged? When our cable television service goes out during the next thunderstorm?

This is outrageous!

CNN is posting an article today saying that its reporters got the chance to see photographs of the Haditha Massacre that the Bush White House plans to refuse to show to the American public. Why? Why? We get to see all the stupid Army of One propaganda, so how come we can’t see what the military really does? Bad for recruiting?

Apparently, one of the photographs shows that the United States Marines shot and killed “an elderly man sitting in his wheelchair” as part of the massacre.

What the hell is wrong with us here in America? If we aren’t outraged about our military butchering an old man in a wheelchair, when will be outraged? When our cable television service goes out during the next thunderstorm?

The right wing Republicans say that we’re all overreacting to the massacre of babies and old people by Marines in Iraq. They say we don’t have the right values. Then they go complaining about violence in video games.

When will they get it through their stupid heads?!? It’s the real violence that matters! Moral values means don’t go to war!

  The “Trouble” here is you’ve tried, convicted, and sentenced men you don’t know for a situation that you did not attend. The pictures that you believe to be true may not be as CNN did not take them but were told what they were. Trouble is you left wingers will latch on to anything regardless of how flimsy, and you talk about over reacting, disgraceful, no morals at all.

  jclifford, you should have gone to bed 20 minutes ago, it’s past your bed time, and well past your ability to think clearly. You don’t know me, you don’t know if I’m right or left or centrist. You project your hostility at anything you don’t understand. My comment was specifically directed at an acknowledged liberal (Frank) for falling to analyze the pabulum he is being spoon feed by the popular media. He tried and convicted military personnel based on data that would not be permitted in a court of law. Remember, Freedom is not Free, it is, and has been paid for by the blood of the US military, I only ask, no I demand that they be respected.

  So, JW, where are those WMD’s again? Jclifford got this one right. The administration was even willing to out a CIA agent in order to put their false information before the public and stampede the war vote.

  Frank doesn’t provide a link, but the ‘killing an old man in his wheelchair’ report is out there in the respectable press. There are enough descriptions of the Haditha incident to understand that this should not have happened. I’m not sure I agree that the pictures should be released and the case tried in the press, but neither do I believe it should be covered up.

  You don’t show “respect for the blood of the US military” either by allowing them to secretly kill civilians in cold blood or by sending more of them to be killed without a vigorous public dialogue.

  Communicating with liberals is like swatting flies in the dark. Space man, what a notable nickname. I’ll try using small word so you’ll understand.
  1) All American’s are considered innocent until proven otherwise, even in the military (but not apparently by any of you).
  2) Iraq officials and Military officials are separately investigating the facts. The Marines that composed the squad in question are in the brig waiting the out come, why don’t you?
  3) Don’t mix augments, this article, the one I responded to above, was about Haditha, not the CIA or WMD’s, or Global warming or anything else, try to stay focused.
  4) Today is Flag Day, anybody that doesn’t display an American Flag deserves to step on an IED(improvised explosive device).

  Poor, poor soldiers, locked up in the brig but already tried and convicted, and all because some nasty, liberal blogger dares to ask for a photo. Those nasty, liberal bloggers ought to get blown up by explosives, never mind a trial.

  Of course we shouldn’t see those photos of an old man in a wheelchair killed by American soldiers. The public might start clamoring to stop it. What we really need in Iraq is even more soldiers on their third, fourth or even fifth deployments and even more Iraqi My Lai incidents. That’ll teach ‘em to…what was it now…oh yes, that will teach ‘em to blow up the World Trade Center then hide all those WMD so we can’t find them.

  Only Americans are innocent until proven guilty. What do those guys in Haditha think they are, Americans or something? I bet they’re not displaying the American flag correctly either. They probably deserve to get blown up by explosives, right jw?

  Space Cadet, once again you are all over the planet, focus, focus, focus! What I will discuss in this forum are the pictures, the men in the brig, and the fact the some people have already made up their minds that they are guilty, nothing else. The pictures are available on the internet, I’ve seen them. The US government did not take the pictures, nor can they block them. CNN doesn’t say who has them or who took them. I will not discuss the WTC, Viet Nam, WMD’s or anything else here, this is not the forum for those subjects. I repeat, you are trying, and convicting men you do not know based on evidence that you cannot count on and does not meet the statutes of this country. Finally while there are many countries in which you are innocent until provided otherwise in a court of law (based on Greek Law), not all countries follow that procedure, of course, like France (Napoleonic Law), and obviously, not all people. It really gets to you that I’m right doesn’t it? You just can’t stand it, I may have miss-judged you spaced man you may be closer to a fascist or an anarchist. Do you every admit that you were wrong? Or someone else is right? I don’t believe you capable.

  Where are the pictures on the internet? I don’t see them. Where on this thread does someone say they tried and convicted someone? I don’t see it. And now you want to introduce Napolean, Greeks, and ANARCHISTS? What was THAT about?

  And golly gee, do you really check for flags on flag day and blow people up with your Improvised Devices? A bit hostile today, are we? Flashbacks, maybe?

  You’re improvising a lot more than explosive devices. Maybe the space I’m observing is between your ears.

  Spacey, nothing is more lifeless and barren then a closed mind. Are you asking me for help? You cannot Google Haditha Pictures yourself and find anything? Really? Where in this forum does someone try and convict, to quote “the massacre of babies and old people by Marines in Iraq.” If that isn’t pretrial judgment I don’t know what is. This will be my last word on this subject in this forum. I have led you to water and you refuse to drink. You will wither and be fruitless, you cannot grow with a mid so closed that it cannot be enlightened. You cannot prosper will a heart so black that there is no room for light.

  JW has not led us to water, but rather is leading us around in circles out in the Wilderness. The Haditha photos are indeed under tight wraps by the military, although there is no shortage of people who say they either took the photos or saw the photos.

  JW main objection seems to be the phrase “the massacre of babies and old people by Marines in Iraq.” Is there any doubt that civilians were indeed killed in Haditha, that a marine was killed right before the massacre, or that the physical evidence does not match the story told by the marines?

  Maybe JW thinks the article should have said “the alleged massacre”? Maybe 24 men, women, children and old people in wheel chairs just suddenly decided to shoot themselves in the back of the head. At exactly the same time the marines said 24 civilians had been blown up by a bomb.

  I don’t need to see the actual photos. There have been plenty of descriptions of what happened and what the photos show by responsible people not associated with the military brass to convince me there really was a massacre. Instead of hiding our heads in the sand, we need to figure out a way to keep this from happening again.

  But that doesn’t go very far towards explaining JW’s hostility issues.

  … nope, works just fine over here. Space, is it possible that you have nasty spyware installed against your will on your computer that randomly causes popups like you indicated?

  The bug is fixed; it disappeared sometime after I reported it on 6/16. As you can see, I was able to post on 6/17 with no problem after the spambot entry following jw’s 6/15 post was removed. Thanks.

  Well Sgt. no baiting like some here. My complaint was that the Marines in question where in body shackles and solitary confinement with out having been changed, and that some here had already convicted them with out benefit of trial (or even being charged with a crime). That has changed due to public out cry for just treatment. As far as what happens to any of them if found guilty, military law, military justice. I expect some time in confinement, perhaps life, maybe execution (I don’t know if military law allows for capital punishment), certainly dishonorable discharge.
