Why is There A Code Orange Alert in American Airports?

If there's a high risk of terrorist attack in American airports, how come there hasn't been even an attempt at one for such a long time? I think that this definition of high risk has a pretty low threshold of paranoia.

Travelling through an airport today, I notice that the Homeland Security alert status is still at code orange. Code orange is supposed to mean that there is a high risk of terrorist attack.

If there’s a high risk of terrorist attack in American airports, how come there hasn’t been even an attempt at one for such a long time?

I think that this definition of high risk has a pretty low threshold of paranoia.

  They could just yell, ‘Hey, paying customers, you could get blasted at any time. Sure we’ve had a long break in between terrorist attacks, but you never know. Be also on the lookout for small gun-toting flies. Have a nice day.’

  The person writing this clearly anti-American rant may in fact be a terrorist or an extreme Muslim fundamentalist — how can we know? Why would anyone want to make this kind of blatantly anti-American “news” available to the American public?

  Please verify the authenticity of the news sources that you read. Be watchful out there!

  I think what happened was the alert counter was supposed to drop down to blue but the needle got stuck on orange and the monkeys in charge of the Department of Homeland Ineptitude couldn’t remember how to fix it, so they said “Eh, leave it alone and people will stop noticing it eventually.”

  The U.S. alert for aircraft was raised back when the Brits had those airport problems. I doubt it will be lowered soon becasue of this week’s London car bombs and Glasgow airport bombs.

  ABC reported two weeks ago terror alert for airports in Glasgow and Prague, and a secret Homeland Secrutiy Report says al Qaeda is planning something spectacular in the U.S. for this summer.
