Irregular Times Diaries: Unfit DiscussionIn a time of the spring, old paths are obscured and new growth begins.
On CNN, March 1, 2008, Hillary Clinton warned against making Barack Obama the Democratic presidential nominee, saying, “…everyone knows that John McCain will make this election about national security, that is a given. And it will be imperative that we have a nominee who is able to stand on that stage with Senator McCain, and I believe I am the person best able to do that.”
That, in a nutshell, is what’s wrong with the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton. In a year when the Republicans are weak, she plans on allowing the Republican nominee to determine what the election is about. In the meantime, she will just stand on the stage, content to be there.
Barack Obama understands that the strongest Democratic presidential nominee will be the one who doesn’t wait around for the Republican to set the terms of the election. Barack Obama has the key concepts to set the terms of the election according to strong progressive Democratic values, not according to mere response to Republican tactics.
Democrats deserve a nominee who doesn’t begin the race by surrendering the terms of the contest.

That’s what the obamabots hate most about Hillary–she’s so bashful and demure.

When it comes to confronting right wingers like Joseph Lieberman she has been.

Some say Hillary is too decisive, you say she is not divisive enough.
Typical way our culture treats women–always whining about vague stuff. Nothing we do is ever good enough, no matter what it is.

Do you not want to be politically divided from Joseph Lieberman? Do you want to be politically united with him?
This has nothing to do with Hillary Clinton being a woman. It has to do with her association with Joseph Lieberman. Hillary Clinton’s long association with Joseph Lieberman definitely is not “good enough”, but that’s because Lieberman is a right wing scoundrel, not because Clinton is a woman.
Of course, you already know that.

“politically united”?– What’s that supposed to mean? Is it something you do with your clothes on? See, that’s exactly the vague kind of innuendo stuff I’m talking about. Hillary Clinton has worked across the aisle on various issues, including with one of the guys who initiated the impeachment proceedings against her husband. What’s she supposed to do, soap his windows? tip over his outhouse? No, she’s a grownup and she has work to do.
For someone who has tried to make the campaign about uniting different groups of people, Obama has alienated women with his surrogate bitch campaign, alienated Typical White Persons, and now alienated the Bitter Working Class. If he does win the nomination, he’s going to need all those megabuck donations he’s getting from the millionaires, because he’s not going to have any of the little grassroots people left in his camp to carry water unless he pays them.

“worked across the aisle”?–What’s that supposed to mean?…
Oh, never mind.

“worked across the aisle” - translation into ordinary English: Compromised principles for the sake of promoting the agenda that lobbyists are paying people on both sides of the aisle to advance.

HRC collaborated with conservative Senator Linsay Graham (R-SC) on GI health care. (that McCain voted against)
Whether or not that’s against your principles is up to you.
