Why does Pete Sessions hate babies?

Yesterday the House voted to grant federal employees four weeks of paid parental leave. If it becomes law, that means a baby born to one or more federal employees will have four weeks of extra attention, four weeks when their parent(s) will be able to get up in the night without worrying about being a wreck at work in the morning, four weeks of bonding, maybe four weeks of breastfeeding.

Pete Sessions argued against it as too expensive: $20M/year.  With 1.8M federal employees, that’s about $11 per employee per year.

Pete Sessions also opposes abortion rights; he doesn’t mention abortion on his House website, but he’s consistently voted to make abortions harder and harder.  In other words, he favors creating unwanted babies, but he’s unwilling to spend a few dollars to help them grow up sane and healthy.

  Excellent point, John. Politicians like Pete Sessions seem to only care about humanity before a human’s actually been born into the world. After then, they couldn’t seem to care less!

  This does not at all mean that Pete Sessions favors creating unwanted babies. He opposes killing them after they’ve been conceived. Just because he opposes abortion doesn’t mean that he supports the illegitimacy or the unwantedness of hundreds of thousands of babies in the United States. What too many pro-choicers don’t seem to get is that there is a 100%-effective contraceptive that’s been around since the beginning of time: abstinence! It’s not easy for everyone to exert a little self control, but it sure works. Besides that, there are lots of other easy ways to avoid pregnancy. Why doesn’t anyone think of adoption? In thousands of cases, life will be better and easier for both parent and child if the parent chooses to give the baby up for adoption; the parent(s) have no legal obligations, and the child will not be stuck in a home in which it is not wanted or properly cared for.
  The idea that someone is personally responsible for a child and its well being is apparently not as popular as it should be. Responsibility can mean: 1) not getting pregnant, 2) giving the child up for adoption, or 3) ensuring a stable family for the child and doing absolutely everything possible to provide sufficiently for the child.
