I’m trying to post a diary with a jpeg image. I’ve tried copy and paste from the image itself, but paste function is not active on the composing screen. Then I tried importing the image to a word document, then ‘copy’ ‘paste’ to the composing screen. The text comes through, but not the image. I tried the image button on the screen, but it comes back and asks me if a file is write protected. I suspect I do not have enough privleges, or that there is some other secret to posting images.
Thanks for writing, Layla. There’s a box underneath the portion of the screen in which you write the text of your post. It’s called “Uploads,” and you can browse through your local computer to upload a graphic. It will appear as a thumbnail on screen. Click on the thumbnail to see options, which include “sending it to the editor” (in plain English, inserting the graphic). You can insert a thumbnail of the graphic or the actual graphic itself.
Be careful to make sure your graphic is about 450 pixels or less wide. Anything more will make the page you write look horrible, since it will overlap onto all sorts of other stuff.

I just read your comment more closely. The write protection error was due to a server problem that was my fault.

As you see your instructions were perfect and I have managed to post the image. I was unhapppy with the appearance, but was unable to make it larger. The image was suppposed to be 800 pixels wide, but there seems to be no correlation between the pixels in my HP scanner program and what the text editor program sees as pixels. I think I read you correctly that there is no way to manipulate the image once it has been uploaded.

Thanks to you and others who write and care for this site. It’s definitely worth the time to
visit and read.
I have a request, and a good reason or two to submit it: I badly need information about the Unity ’08 organization, which I believe to be a fraud and scam. I would like to hear from either you or someone else associated with this site by telephone to get a briefing based on your findings about that outfit.
One reason for making this inquiry is that I’ll very likely be asked to discuss them at a later time and I want to be fully prepared. Those doing the asking will be media types. I wish to have at my disposal all the facts I can muster, even if the balance of them disprove my suspicions.
If you’re disinclined to contact me, that’s ok. I’ll continue research on my own. But after seeing you and an old acquaintance Mark Green take a Unity ’08 operative to task a few months back, I decided that you’d be the first person I’d contact if the need arose. Item: those exchanges have been expunged from Unity ’08′s site BTW.

I’ve noticed that. You put in , if you’re using html.
The little link icon is much easier. Just highlight the text you want to link (by click and hold with the cursor, click the icon, then copy and paste the address into the window that pops up.
Ooops, that last post was me, Iroquois. I hit some button and it posted itself before I could finish editing, but I think it’s still understandable.

if you don’t mind me mentioning this, for the last couple weeks I’ve been getting errors connecting to your server at night, maybe between 10:30 and 11:30 central time. Today same thing noonish and again now. Usually both home page and diaries are equally affected but for some reason now I’m only able to access your diaries.
Yes, we were having escalating problems with our service provider. Erg, erg! They SHOULD be over now.
I once had a login for contribution to the diaries, But long periods of time away from the sit, and my flagging memory have caused me to lose my login password etc. Will you help?

Can’t register. Don’t know how to use the validation image. I keep typing image I see and it doesn’t allow me to register.
Thanks for writing, CeCe. Our latest software update introduced a bug we weren’t aware of. It’s fixed now. Try again!
I tried registering, apparently there is an error with the security? i’m no hacker and i was entering the correct security code and have been unable to register 
Maria, thanks for writing. We update our software, and that erases a piece of code which we manually have to reinsert. Inelegant, I know, but registering should work now.
